    New Guy

    Hey guys,

I've been lurking here and there since I joined in April. So, I decided to finally post an intro.

I've been struggling big time to quit smoking. 2+ pack a day smoker. I put so much stress on myself to quit smoking. So, I'm going to take the no pressure approach to quitting cigs with snus.

I already received some great feedback on another thread.

I really like snus and the harm reduction approach to cigarettes. I've done tons of research on snus and feel like I'm fairly well-versed on tobacco - at least for a newb. I'm looking forward to learning more about Swedish snus and hoping to be a success story in terms of quitting smoking.

This seems to be a great group of people and I'm looking forward to reading and posting more.

I have some fav's so far:

    Ettan Original Portion
    General Portion
    Nick and Johnny's Original Portion
    Gote Rape

    Enjoy the day guys...

    Welcome Matt

    You have some good favs.

I found the most difficult part about getting over the initial cig craving was anticipating need. Too many times I would wait until I felt the nicotine need before popping in a portion. The Northerner brand actually helped with that. It seems to have a fast kick-in for me. Now, I generally know my cycles of nic craving and use a mix of strong and regular portions. I do still keep some Northerners around for the stress times that I need the quick hit.

Best of luck and welcome out of the shadows.

I smoked for 38 years. I was smoking 2-3 packs a day when I quit 2 years ago.
For me what worked was chain snusing regular portions so I never had any nicotine withdrawal.
I still allowed myself one weekend pack of smokes, and I mean one pack, no more. Within a couple of months that weekend pack became biweekly, then monthly, by 6 months I had stopped smoking completely.

Hey Matt, welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!

I smoked 2 pks per day for 26 years. I too chain snus about 6-8 portions a day and haven't wanted a cig in 19 months.

And a big CONGRATS to you guys who have quit or have cut back on smoking. That's awesome. Proof for me that it can be done.

I feel kinda shitty for starting with snus, instead of going through the cycle of cigarettes then snus. But anyways, Welcome!

As long as you don't end on cigs you will be OK ;P

Welcome, Matt, and happy Thanksgiving. For some people, as evidenced in this thread, chain-snusing will obviously obliterate any need for other nicotine sources. For other people, like myself, I just have a snus at the same opportunities with which I would formerly have a cig. Smoked for 16 years then discovered Swedish snus and never looked back. Personally, I prefer the extra strong snus and use it every couple hours for 10-50 minutes. Others, like I said, prefer to always have snus. In any case, in the words of Shock G, Doowathchalike. Snus will do the work for you. Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard, Matt. Good luck on dumping the smokes. It can be done and I, along with a bunch of others, are proof that snus can help you out. I smoked for more years than I want to think about, and with snus I've now been smokefree for almost two years. Good luck and keep on snusing.

Welcome!! Just don't stress it much - you WILL find yourself gravitating more toward snus. After a little while, youll find you just aren't much interested in smoking . The snus always wins.

Welcome! I quit a 20+ year smoking habit about 2 years ago with snus. It really was easy. Just do like you said and allow yourself to smoke if you want and the snus will win out eventually. I'm still completely free to smoke if I want but I don't. It's a great feeling!

Thanks for the welcome's guys! I've been using the no pressure approach and have already been snussing quite a bit. It's great and much more satisfying.
