Pretty sure it was General portion. While in Bergen my cousin told me about it and wanted me to buy some for her and she gave me one too. To say I didn't like the taste would be an understatement, but of course that was my first time, now I love the taste of Snus. I dont have just the one brand but I normally buy 02 and Skruf Xtra Stark.

It's interesting that most of us ended up transitioning from Camel to General or Swedish Match products....maybe this should be SM's marketing strategy from now on. Just put a mini-fridge directly beside every Camel snus cooler and let nature take its course!

What's interesting about this is that RJR will eventually have to improve their snus. One thing I've learned being in the restaurant business for so long is that the best way to increase sales is to drive repeat business. You'll always have new customers, but most of them will go on to other companies/products unless you can retain that customer. Camel "SNUS" being a gateway isn't good for them. A lot of people will try their stuff, but when they want something better a lot of them will graduate to Swedish Snus. Their drive needs to be making a product that doesn't make people want something stronger/less sweet/better, but in getting new customers and retaining them.

Yep same here camel frost which was alright at the time, and then general original which took some getting used to. Then I didi an order with another guy who used snus got 5 cans of Goteborgs rape, Claq Qui, Nick and Johnny, Thunder Frosted, and some other thing I can't remember. One thing I've realized is anything that's meant for norway I tend to like so nick and johnny and skurf are favorites.

Exactly, we can only hope one of the RJR people are watching this forum (possible, it is a snus forum after-all) and hearing our comments. If there was a readily available American snus, like Camel, that was made the same way as Swedish and tasted like General, I would always buy it.

I think my first was General Dry Mint. Never bought it since.

Yeah Altria seems more likely to pay attention for some reason, I mean skoal snus is one step away from copenhagen snus. Using the skoal name was already a big commitment it's been beat up and lost market share but skoal is a valuable brand name, if they put copenhagen on the tin I'd buy it unless they made some weird flavor which I doubt they'll do. It's still completely beyond me why they even made marlboro snus and didn't start with skoal, did they do any testing at all, I don't see the purpose of it, I don't think a five year old kid wouldn't get a buzz from it so it doesn't strike me as a starter product, and producing a product in a different category that's worse than camel hurts their brand name. I mean when you think about it having a smokeless tobacco product named after a cigarette seems as bizarre as just doing black and mild snus.

Hmm, now that sounds interesting. I don't care for the taste of smoke but if it tasted anything like black and milds smell I may have to have that as a desert snus here and again.

My first snus was General White Portion. Friend gave me some portions, I tried General OP after a few hours, I liked it much much more.

They are watching. That is why big tobacco lobbied for the PACT Act to pass. Why join them (Swedish snus manufacturers) when you can just beat them to death with legislation?
