Hey guys. I ordered my first roll of snus a couple weeks ago (10 cans general portion). For the first week or so, the snus was very moist, very strong, it burnt my lip every time I used it (love it). I have been storing it in the fridge in a ziploc bag. I love snus and have quit smoking because of it and will continue to use it for god knows how long.
I always put it back in the fridge when I go to bed at night.
Now I notice that the can I opened yesterday has dried out? Like most of the snus inside the bag is still relatively moist, but the outside of the bag has dried and it gives a weird texture. I've also noticed the strength and taste of the snus has dissipated, which is really weird considering it's been less than a week in the fridge. It's almost like it feels rough in my mouth, not smooth like it used to.
FWIW the expiry is June 14/2011, so not for a long time.
So I opened a new can just to see and although the first couple portions were fine that can is now drying out too. I do live in a fairly dry climate but its winter now. Could it be the fridge that did this? The first can I used stayed fresh right til the end (took about 3 days to finish it). The second can started to go dry near the end. Is there any way to get it back to the way it was before, with that zip, or should I just leave it?
Is it that my mouth has gotten used to snusing and now I don't notice the burn anymore? Seems a little weird. I mean I was getting super buzzed off this stuff (OMG I LOVE IT!) I couldn't even really handle it at first it was too much nicotine but now with the bags drying out a bit Ive noticed a sharp decline in buzzability. Even the smell, when I first smelled it and for a few days after it was like overwhelmingly strong. Now it even smells weaker.
Do you recommend me spraying it and leaving it for 48 hours? What's the absolute best way to store snus so that it has the original flavor and taste and doesn't dry out like at all?
Please help guys, thanks.
