Noob just got first shipment of SNUS, general thoughts.

So in order to stop smoking due to a recent blood clot in my lung, I picked up a can of Camel SNUS at the local convenient store. Thought it was good, and helped with the quitting smoking. Started doing some reading up about SNUS online (since I had no idea what the stuff was before) and came across this forum. After some reading, came to the conclusion that Camel SNUS was inferior to the stuff from Sweden. Ended up buying some General Wintergreen, General Mint, and a sampler of General (Sterk, Strong Sterk, and some others). As a side note the WinterChill (wintergreen) Camel SNUS made me hiccup for a few minutes everytime I used it. Apparently that is associated with Nicotine Overdose. I thought that all the Camel SNUS had the same mg of nicotine. Never had an issue with the Frost. And haven't had the hiccups with the General Mint or Wintergreen. Weird....

Initial reaction after trying the General Mint and Wintergreen is that the flavor is not as sweet as the Camel, but somewhat stronger/thicker (if that makes any sense). They seem to last about the same time as the Camel SNUS, roughly 1.5 hours or so. Going to try some of the other General stuff that I got over the weekend and see what I like.

Any suggestions? I put all of the unopen cans in ziploc bags in the freezer, put the 2 open cans in a ziploc bag in the fridge.

Any suggestions on other brands/flavors to try? I like it to have flavor, so don't think I'll care to much for the plain stuff. Saw some people mention Licorice flavor, but just reading that made me puke in my mouth a bit. Not sure what other flavors are out there, or the difference really between the White and the Regular.

But I can assure you that the SNUS club definately has a new member.

Welcome! Glad you like it so far. And your storage technique is the exact same way I store mine with no problems.

I would try some Offroad, just pick some flavors that sound appealing to you. They are cheaper than General too. I like the Offroad Frosted, and Cranberry.

Welcome to SnusOn. If you like Camel Frost, try Offroad Frosted or Thunder Frosted. The difference between white and regular, is the regular have been dipped and will be more wetter then a white. Personally I prefer the whites. Also give the normal/regular tobacco flavors a shot as well. You'd be surprised. I was a menthol smoker and gravitated towards mint snus at first. But now I use a lot of "non flavored" snus as well. I recommend Tre Ankre and Grov White. Roda Lacket is also a good flavored snus, very summer-y. For Mint though go with the two I mentioned above, also the Jakobbosns Wintergreen and Mint. Sweeter than most snus.

THanks for the input guys. I'll have to give them a try. Will probably put in another order in the next week for a variety of flavors/brands. I posted over in the Trade/Sell section to see if anyone wanted to sell any different flavors/brands. Will see if I have any luck there, otherwise will probably put in another order online in the next week to try out a bunch of different ones.

Welcome! Good job quitting the smokes! Just try them all or as many as you can. It's the best part! A lot of people start off liking the flavored ones and end up liking the more traditional ones over time. If you get something you don't like, put it in the fridge or freezer for a while and try it again later. Your taste buds will change a lot for a long time because you quit smoking. I'd recommend trying Jakobson'ss mint since that stuffs great. Also General White and the sterk general is good which you already have. Some other stuff that's good is click white portion which is similar to tre ankre, Grov, Jakobson's wintergreen, goteborgs rape, goteborgs rape no.2, nick and johnny, nick and johnny white, jakobson's icefruit, jakobson's classic strong.

Also if you try something and don't like it wait a bit and come back to it since your tastes change.

snus is addictive... in more ways than physically! Welcome to the fold.

The General Wintergreen is a favorite of mine, nice choice.

If you're gonna snus you should try ETTAN. It hasn't changed since 1822! It's the oldest snus brand in the world. Classic traditional. It's salty and smokey and at first you'll be like WOAH! But lots of former smokers like it due to its smokey flavor profile.

Flavourwise, my advice is....TRY EVERYTHING
As frosted mentioned once, you gotta do that 'Snus journey'. Everybody has different tastes. However, you shouldn't go wrong with the most popular brands/flavours out there.

I've been off of my 2.5 pack a day smoking habit for almost a month now using a bunch of old snus I purchased before the PACT Act went into effect. I never used it. I'm now using snus that expired a year ago and it tastes and works just fine. Some cans from older orders, when I first started, expired in 2008. That's a little dry and the flavor is pretty gone. Still, you can keep it over a year in the freezer. I feel much better now and have finally gotten used to snusing vs. smoking. I do a lot of flying so it's great to not have restrictions on where or when I get my snus on! Plus I always carry some Samuel Gawith Golden glow snuff for when I need a sharp jolt. Yummy. My favorite snus is Skruf Extra stark LOS by far. (You might want to hold off on that and try the regular strength Skruf for a while)
I also like Goteborg Rape, Bla, Roda-Lacket, Ettan, Thunder, Jacobsens, Montecristo, Romeo Y Julieta, and few others.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will definately be trying a wide variety. Thinking about placing an order with premiumsnus.com for just a couple cans of each of the brands/flavors that you guys mentioned.

That should give me enough of a variety to figure out what I like.
