Hello sirs, nice title for my thread. No? I knew it would grab some attention(hoped?) I am new here, kind of. I have been lurking for awhile but finally decided to join. I love talking snus, all things snus. My girlfriend, family, and friends do not share my passion for it but if you are reading this you might. That or I can assist you in switching over to the "right side" of tobacco use. Perhaps a more rewarding and beneficial side. A habit that you do not have to feel so guilty about. You can take pride in the fact that your habit has more pros than cons. At least to you, the user. Who perceives it to be cleaner, safer, more cost effective, and appealing to the senses. You can be discreet and do not have to be nagged about smelling like smoke or carrying around a bottle of spit. We are not rednecks with a "lip" in. We are not trashy people bumming smokes off of strangers. We are not picking up half used portions off of the ground. We are not hacking in the door ways of restaurants or stores. We do not need to be told that it is bad for us because we are well aware of what we are doing. That and we know exactly what we are putting in our bodies because we know the ingredients. 'Elegant men' and 'great men' smoke their cigars and make it a point as if it signifies power. Snus signifies leisure and elegance to me. All while at church, reading, writing, working,in a meeting I can enjoy my habit and no one needs to know or stop and wait for me. I do not need a break, even while active I am in a sense taking "a break." Enough of snus rant though, you get the picture. I apologize in advance if you are offended or insulted by anything I say or insinuate. I should not be taken too seriously. I just want to share some words with others like myself.
I have been using snus for the last two years. Three to four if you want to include my introduction to it through Camel snus and the transitional period from cigarettes and dip. I went from Camel snus to Nick and Johnny. I ordered it after reading a review and they seemed to be a highly regarded brand amongst users. I thought I would fit right in with them off the bat, and I didn't. After placing my order I found out that Nick and Johnny was not a good starting place as it was a bit overwhelming and alien initially, especially when compared to what I had access to as an American. Luckily I ordered some very common brands along with it so I was able to adapt my taste buds and discover what to look for in flavor, size, nicotine strength, etc. Over time I have found snus to be an acquired taste. Especially if one is turned on to it for cessation of cigarette or chewing tobacco use. I did not have much of an issue but I do have friends that I have given snus to in hopes that they could make the change and they could not. I am happy that Camel snus exists, seeing how it introduced me to this swedish treasure. That and it will introduce others to real snus as it did for me. There are all so times where I run out and have to wait on orders so no matter how much I don't enjoy it I end up with the Camel snus. I can no longer bring myself to dip so it is really my only option. In regards to that I am hoping Copenhagen makes a somewhat favorable natural snus that is leaning towards traditional rather than americanized.
I used to smoke and dip, more of a dipper. When I did smoke I smoked two packs a day and it wore on my body and my wallet. The dip was really doing a number on my mouth and I could not take it anymore. I am a pretty nervous person with quite an addictive nature. What started off as guilty pleasures became full fledged dirty habits that made me feel gross. I quit so many times successfully and yet somehow, I always ended up back in the smoking section. That or carrying around a bottle of spit. When you no longer enjoy your habit and the bad outweighs the good it is time to move on. That is where Camel came in, it wasn't the greatest thing ever but it showed me the way. At the end of the day it is still an addiction and it can be an inconvenience but to me it is worth the money and time that I invest. If I do end up with health related issues because of it I can at least say that I did in fact enjoy it rather than regret it.
I, like many snusers, always have a variety on hand. My go to snus is typically General. I love the new General long STRONG. Yeah, caps because its a good word to go with my snus. General long has been my go to since it came out and I can not see myself abandoning it. If I need something stronger I usually keep around some random cans of Thunder but I usually prefer loose Ettan or General if its a big nic hit I am after. I like having loose around to hold me over when waiting for orders. There is more in a can and I can make my portion as small or large as I want. I like having the purified around my bed(usually under the pillow) just in case I want snus but just brushed my teeth. That and the drool is much cleaner when you pass out with it in your mouth. I could go on and on about whats in my mouth(still talking snus here.) I just wanted to make my first thread and say what was on my mind. Sorry if some of this is incoherent or unfocused. I was not trying to write an essay. I just wanted to give myself a proper introduction, share a bit of history, and humor. GOBACKTOSLEEPAMERICA-Mr.Bill Hicks
