Transitioning from dip to snus! yey!

Hey folks! In my endless quest to experience new things, I've found snus and I can not wait for my box to get in the mail tomorrow.

I started dipping two years ago after I joined the USAF and while I enjoy my Grizzly Wintergreen, my fascination with Scandinavia that started with black metal when I was much younger led me to learning about snus and wanting to try it. Not to mention I'm kind of tired of having to spit all the time. The more I read chadizzy's snubie.com, the more snusauthority reviews I read, the more I think dip:snus::budweiser:dogfish head. If any of y'all are beer nerds, that is.

    Welcome!

And thanks for the props, I'm always glad to hear my site helps people.

I think reading information on sites like mine, DrSnus, and some of the others is always a good introduction to snus. I think snus forums (SnusOn especially) are a great next step because discussing it is another great way to learn and there's a lot of good and helpful folks here.

Beer nerd checking in, Stella Artois on DECK!

    What's your rank and job/squadron?

-1 for suggesting Stella as a beer nerd's beer. Personally, it's okay, but way overpriced for what it is. Everyone talks up how it's a wonderful lager, and when I got around to trying it, I was distinctly underwhelmed by it. And at $10 a six pack, I'd rather spend my money on some Shipyard.

Also, got two questions for you, phildo. What bands were you listening to for black metal? I used to be really into it when I was younger, but got bored with it around the time everyone started doing the kvlt style crap. I still enjoy popping in the original Stormblåst, by Dimmu Borgir, or the odd bit of Wolves in the Throne Room from time to time, though.

The second, more personally pressing one, do you know anyone who's station overseas/been deployed to any of our current warzones that snuses? I'm planning on enlisting towards the end of this year, as I hated going to college (I had been pumped at first, until I'd gone for three years and was still paying out the ass to review sh¡t I'd learned in 9th grade), and the prospect of living with my parents/working retail for the next 15 years is pretty unappealing. My major concern though, was how I'd manage to keep my supply line up and running if the Army tells me to bugger off to Afghanistan or somewhere for the next several years. So any info on the difficulties of getting snus and snuff from enlisted people would be much appreciated.

Good luck with the switch to snus. I still like the odd dip from time to time, but it takes all of about 5 minutes for the heartburn to kick in and I know why I switched.

Dogfish head is the BOMB!!! Snubie.com helped me kind of discover the variety and of swedish snus as well as the concept of harm reduction. Snusify and cnashx had some pretty good snus reviews as well.

Personal fave beer snob beer is St. Bernardus. Those crazy monks...

I'm coming to the rescue for Chad as far as Stella is concerned. I think it's a wonderful replacement for American Lagers after work, cutting grass, etc...anytime when I'm hot, I usually opt for a Stella or *gasp* Heineken. I've also been enjoying Chimay Grand Reserve (Blue) for special occasions, what a stunning beer! Chimay Premiere and Tripel...still trying to get past the overwhelming overtones of those.

My heart still lies with Jamaican-made Guinness as found in the Carribbean though, so any of you guys down that way that can get some...I could work out a VERY lucrative snus trade ;^)

I'm not saying it's a bad beer, necessarily, just that it's pretty overrated. Certainly a step above Budweiser, but I've had much better lagers for the same price or cheaper. Goldmine tastes much better to me, and only costs me $8 for a 12-pack.

Here in Arkansas, Stella is way overpriced, but worth it. 8-10$ for a 6 pack around here.
And I'll GLADLY pay that compared to all the other crap they sell here.

I Have been seen a program on TV in Sweden that named something like BERRMASTERS or something like that, it´s the CEO from DOGFISHEAD who travel around the world and try to make new brews and inovative Beer, now.. It´s simple for you to get the Swedish snus but me who are a big beer fanatic, I CAN`T get Dogfishhead beer in Sweden!! How does the beer taste? thinking to get over sea only for trying the beer.. Maby i should contact the CEO to figer out how to make a combo with snus.. I could have some great ideas here...

finding Maine micro-brew is soooooo difficult in the mid-west. Every now and then you just want a little taste of home, but NO!!! ****ers
