Holy crap, this thread blew up in the last few days! Thanks for the warm welcome, guys!
chadizzy - I'm stationed at Cannon AFB. I'm a senior airman aircraft electrician.
shikitohno - I used to be into the standard stuff. old Mayhem, Darkthrone, Bathory, Dissection, Gorgoroth. A lot more than that, those are just the ones that pop up in my head. When I listen to black metal now I go for the post-black-metal stuff - Altar of Plagues, Petrychor, and (as you mentioned) Wolves in the Throne Room. I usually concern myself with electronica these days as one of my main hobbies is producing music with Ableton Live. To answer your second question - I don't know anyone who snuses, however, this might make you feel better - Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan is not a US military base, it's a NATO base, and at the moment it's run by the Canadians. As a result there is a wonderful mixture of militaries there, people from all over Europe. You are bound to be able to get snus from someone there without a doubt. Your other option would be to order in bulk and bring it with you, and have friends and family send it to you in the mail. I highly recommend the military to anyone who is interested in joining, even if you only do a 4-year tour. You'll learn more things and meet more people than you ever thought possible. I'd also submit that the Air Force would be a better choice than the Army - a good example is I just got back from a tailswap (deployed aircraft is due a major scheduled inspection, so we fly a fresh one overseas and fly the old one back) where I spent a lot of time in Newfoundland, Spain, Sicily, and Turkey. Stayed 2 days in deployed location, said 'hi' to my buddies stuck there, got back on a plane and came back. It was amazing.
sharesnusinfo - Dogfish Head makes a lot of different styles. I noticed when I was in Europe that beer seems to be incredibly traditional. I could not get anyone to understand what an IPA was for the life of me. My favorite Dogfish Head brew is the 60-minute IPA, and I can't get it here in New Mexico at all. It's a treat that I indulge in when I have to travel for work =) I'm not good at explaining brews, but a quick Google of the term 'india pale ale' should explain a lot!

Well, if it's any comfort to you in your attempts to transition away from dip, I've discovered today I no longer get anything off it. I can sit and cram as much in as my mouth will hold, and all I get off Cope snuff is a bit of heartburn. May be time to stop buying dip. I guess three years of snus and snuff has rewired how things work for me or something.

Here in Norway everyone that reaches the age of 18 are to join the army, I had some problems at that time so I coulden't go.
I'm 25 now and wish I was 7 years younger so I could join the army, I love the army... ever since I was a kid.
If I could do it all over I would probably join "Telemark Bataljonen" those are our troops in Afghanistan.
Pretty high risk, and long job but we only live once.
