My journey into the land of Snus...
Smoked for about 18 years. Tried quitting around 371 times with patches, gum, pills, severe blows to the back of the head. Nothing worked. One day I found myself too lazy to go buy cigarettes. I figured what the hell I'll wait till tomorrow. Four years later I was smoke free. It was not all unicorns and scratch and sniff stickers though. The first year I would say was brief moments of normalcy surround by hours of constant irritability (I was going to say hours of wanting to kill everyone around me but I'm here to speak with like minded individuals and I don't want you all to think I'm the violent type...although that's really what it was. hours and hour and hours of wanting to...) Anyway... so four years went by and I'd still crave a smoke here and there.. couple times on my way into work I even considered buying a pack with my morning coffee. Then I noticed this snazzy little tin back with the smokes by Camel. I wondered what it was so I looked it up. Couple days went by. Had a real shit day at work then on my lunch break, although my car read 1/4 full it just stopped in possibly the worst intersection in the state. I was getting honked at, yelled at, even by little old ladies! I called back to work for a ride to the gas station. At this point I was pretty irritated... I went to buy a gas can and was like F THIS.. give me a tin of that Camel Frost. Camel Frost.. the Americans gateway to Snusland. Got back.. filled my tank. Car started. Popped in a Camel Frost. The sun came out, angels sang, a bird whistled a tune with me, a part of my body moved that usually only responds to the touch of a woman. It was wonderful. Couple weeks into it I started reading how American Snus is shit. Found a place local that sells General. Bought a couple different ones. While I enjoyed the higher nicotine content the flavor just didn't do it for me with most of them... also General Wintergreen is the most horrible Snus on the face of the planet. I had to stop for a few days because (and I've seen other people say the same thing) it totally destroyed the inside of my upper lip and I had a white bump dead center of my lip after only two days. So I started ordering online. After much trial and error I've got my three favorites depending on my mood and time of day. General Onyx nails it for me as being the best all around. Smooth taste, lasts forever, just right amount of nicotine, and looks cool! Jakobsson's Strong Wintergreen when I want something with a little more kick and flavor. General Loose before bed.
