    Do i need to vaccum?

    Hey,

Thinking about making a ''bigger'' order so I can fill my fridge up a bit. And what cant be in there just goes to the freezer.

But, i dont have any vaccum-sealing machine or anything, so is there any other way I can keep the snus fresh in the freezer?

Just putting the snus in freezing bags and trying to squeeze as much air out of them as you can will do it.

When I clicked on this thread, I thought you were going to show a picture of your house filled with dust bunnies. "Do I need to vacum?"

No need for vacuum sealing. I've had snus in the freezer for 2 years. Just get a good quality ziploc freezer bag and remove as much air as possible.

Airtight plastic boxes are a working and hassle-free solution. I use them for my snus in the fridge and in the freezer.

In the fridge, they also have the advantage that family members don't have to smell the slightly ammonia-like soda-odour everytime they open the fridge. Also, older snus-cans can take up moisture again, if they are stored together with fresh cans in a plastic box.

On the other hand, I know from people, who are less paranoid about their snus than me, that a plastic bag works just as good. Regarding freezing, it doesn't even seem to be a problem to just throw the cans in the freezer without any bagging. It might depend on the type of freezer, though, so it's probably good to make some tests.

BTW, I have one year old snus that has always been in the fridge and it's perfect. Snus is not very sensitive to degrading - the best before dates are to e great extent a marketing gag of the manufacturers (who are big enough to finance fridges in every small shop).

        Cheers!

I firmly stand by my vacuum sealer. I've had snus sealed in them for 4 years and when I open them up they are just like new. No degragation whatsoever. Besides I found a bunch of other uses for that vacuum sealer....and not just for food.

great idea. I could hook up a small hose from the vacuum sealer to a thimble.

You can get starter kits on Amazon or eBay.

This is what I use, the starter kit was around $7 with the pump/bags and was available at my local grocer.
Check your local grocery stores, as these may be available to you locally.

I have the Ziplock vacuum bags and a foodsaver. Both do a good job. The foodsaver will compress the cardboard los cans though..
