    Snus causing gum problems

I was hoping one of you could help me out with a problem I am having. I enjoy cigars and pipes, but I am very conscious of the negative health-impacts they can have, so I have been shying away as of late. I ordered a couple of cans of Swedish snus, and love the stuff.

I am not really using it enough to get addicted (yet!), at the most 2 or 3 pouches a day. Recently, though, my gums have been having problems that I assume are linked to the snus. When I wash up at night, I floss before brushing my teeth. It has been feeling like the floss is catching some food stuck in between my molars, but when I spit it out, it is very red, and I can see the tiniest bit of blood. I am putting the snus in the normal place, so I have no clue why the problem would be with my molars.

Can any of you offer advice?

Sounds like a coincidence. Ever had that problem before snus?

Could be a problem with bacteria. Have you tried gargling with an anti-bacterial mouth wash? My doc recommends hydrogen peroxide (1 part peroxide to 10 parts water) whenever I have this issue. That works for me.
