    Forum Introduction

Hi all! I've been using snus on and off for years, between heavy cigarette rolling and dipping too. Snus is by far my favorite form of tobacco consumption, even exclusive of its safety, and it's come to be all I use. I like to think of it in the context of snuff - it is, after all, moistened, flavored, ground tobacco. I very much enjoy American moist snuff - Copenhagen, Grizzly and Redman FC were my favorites - though anything longer cut and any flavor besides "natural" is disgusting. American moist snuff is a direct descendant of snus; there was apparently more diversity in snus back then because the variety that caught on in America is coarsely ground, very smoky and fermented. I have also dipped American dry snuff. Some of the tastes are excellent but I can see why the Swedes started adding water to the snuff they intended to use orally!

But why snus? Because the flavor is simply better. Even my favorite American snuffs are too strong in taste to use regularly. Snus is more subdued and the qualities of the tobacco aren't obscured by heavy fermentation. You have the gamut from the black pepper taste of General to the sweet grassiness of Roda Lacket to the deep cocoa and vanilla notes in Grovsnus to the light creaminess of Ettans, and lots of other tastes too I'm sure that I have yet to experience.

I'm exclusively a los user. Twice the tobacco for my money and I can use as much as I want, plus the taste is better. I always just hillbilly pinch, I throw a wad on my tongue and then jam it in my upper lip. I tried portions but they were too weak.

Even the buzz from snus is better. Cigarettes are just a quick addictive spike; American snuff gives me heartburn and not much of a buzz; snus gives me a prolonged level of nicotine that I can control. I can use a 2g pinch of Ettans for a mild, subconscious but useful stimulation, or a huge pinch of an extra sterk (or even a regular strength) for a powerful, stoning, sedating sensation that approaches intoxication.

Anyway, yeah. I love snus. I just got my latest order in. I can't wait to try Prima Fint, Rape no. 2, and Gotlandsnus grey. I am a fan of tobacco flavor; that's not to say I reject any flavored snus but the flavorings have to be balanced with the tobacco. Any recommendations for me?

Los is not an expanding market. Portions are taking over and while they will probably not be getting rid of General and Ettan los anytime soon (or ever) your options are limited as a Los user. There are other users here who prefer Los to portions and they decree the difficulties of being an exclusive los user and the lack of options and variety. Lucky for you you enjoy the tobacco flavors as those tend to be the majority of Los flavors available.

I only use los when I don't want a 8mg portion of nicotine.. I've only ever used Ettan los which is a million times better than the portions. Couple of the Los users really enjoy pioneer snus, and another swears by Phantom/Rothbrix Brown los... I love Gotland Anis (grey), portions and I'm willing to be the los is even better. I'll probably include more los in my next order but as of now I'm stocked up on enough portions and Ettan to last me till July.

Odens Extreme is tasty. The nicotine's too high for me, but I dig the taste.

Get the facts about chewing tobacco and other forms of smokeless tobacco. They're more harmful and addictive than you might think.
