    Stop smoking now! any tips..

So i've started snus mainly as an attempt to quit smoking.. I also enjoy snusing now however..

The morning i always crave a cig.. also there a lot of times when i think.. its too late to snus im going to sleep soon.. better to smoke..

or.. i want a nic hit now not in 10 minutes... i should smoke instead..

    also after meals..

any advice to get over all this?

I snus general 8mg atm and recently got general extra sterk.. they help a lot with such a big hit however I dont want to overly feed nicotine dependency..

    The best advice?

You have to "WANT TO QUIT SMOKING"

head onto www.whyquit.com and read as much as you can, you will not want to smoke again.

so many people don't understand the terrible health effects of smoking, and I'm not a smoking-nazi, but if people wouldn't smoke, there wouldn't be so many people in hosptals these days.

I too liked smoking, but had to give up due to health concerns.

    Good luck

Just pop in a strong snus when you feel the craving.

I went from a pack of cigs daily to 4, 3, 2, 0 in four days
      without much effort.

Snus is the BEST NRT possible, even when I was a smoker and snusing at the same time, I noticed that if I had a sterk, the cig cravings would vanish for hours :^)

Yea, the first week when I used an extra stark I would sometimes feel nauseous.
I would ask myself if I felt like a cig.
            No

Agree 100%, an extra sterk or an Oduns extreme have the same effect on me! Don't want a ciggy at all after it ;-)

They should lift the ban on snus, and make it a legal and recommended NRT for smoker.

I wouldn't object to that course of action, certianly helping me, not had one for a week now, just 1-2 pouches of snus a day and a few pinches of snuff. Other thing is I also wanted to quit cigarettes, which I think is a big part of anyone wanting to quit, but I wanted to keep using tobacco, especially snuff as I love the stuff.

You should check out nasal snuff. Snuff hits your blood stream much faster than snus and it can really take the edge off. It seems to me the perfect solution to the issue you're having. Keep snusing. It always seems to win out over cigarettes in the end, but if you really crave a cigarette, it's okay. Just keep making progress.

I've quit snuff long ago, I rarely take a pinch or two.

Snuff on the other side has the highest TSNA levels.

True but they still can't prove a causational link to cancer but with everything there is always a risk but nowhere near as high as cigarettes, only reported case is of a guy who put it in his ear for 40 years! Still not as bad as smoking, and if I need an instant hit, snuff is there and is perfect, a good crutch to stave off the cigarettes, throw snus into the mix and I wonder why I ever smoked in the first place!

Well yes, but imagine that there only a few people use snuff world wide, maybe about 500,000 or 1 million. Whereas there are 2 billion smokers.

Probably if there were 2 billion snuff users there would be more studies showing that it's not as safe as many people would think.

Well at least it doesn't affect the lungs as cigarretes do, nor does it affect the heart ...

Exactly, reason is probably due to low use, I still think it is better than cigarettes since nothing goes into your lungs. Like with everything, there is alwaysa risk attached, just have fun and enjoy life IMO :-P

Maybe get a variety of starks, both portion and lös to get you over the hump. There is a wide variety of flavours to explore compared to cigarettes which is part of the fun of snusing. Worry about the dependency later, after you have kicked the cigarettes completely. Then you can work at getting down to regular strength snus. At least that seems to be working for me, I'm smoke-free for 8 months tomorrow. Try not to wait for a craving before you take another snus or it may be too late as you have found out. As mentioned, snuff is also very useful to help quit the cigarettes and enjoyable in its own right.
