I went down the whole sterling silver rizla holder, dunhill lamb skin rolling pouch and dunhill rollagas route at one point, it got expensive. I guess I like to collect paraphernalia, a habit that has continued into my snus habit, I do like my icetool stuff :-)

How do your lungs feel now? How long since your last tab?
I have 3 rollagas lighters! One I was given for my 21st Birthday, that will never be sold, the other two were everyday ones, kept one in the car and one on my person. The paraphernalia can get very expensive but it does last a hell of a long time.

I had one yesterday 1st one after a week, it wasn't that great tbh (Gauliose Blonde Light) which are normally exquisite! I can breath much easier though, which in this pollen ridden part of the countryside where I live, has been a godsend!

FYI i'm not a geordie, the use of the word tab has come from working with a good friend of mine who always called them tabs, but was from Sheffield! lol

I'm glad you can breathe easier. I've kind of been on and off snus since 2008, and I quit smoking again 2 weeks ago. I see my dentist on Monday for a checkup, I expect I'll get some flack about stains/texture on my upper gums (which are quickly returning to the feel/appearance of leather lol.

I have a friend who calls then tabs too, which is probably why I used that vernacular :-)

      Enjoy your jak's :-)

i smoked almost my whole life. most time i tell people i started when i was about 12 because they think i am lying when i say i started at five but i did. i tried everything to quit. quit about 5-6 years ago at age about 46. when i really decided i would REALLY quit i was smoking camel non-filters.

in a nutshell this is how i did it.

i quit buying cigs by the pack and started rolling my own.

i would not roll any in advance so i had to stop and roll when i wanted to smoke.

then after i got cut down some i started putting filters on my cigs. the reason was i hated smoking filters. so i quit looking forward to smoking as much. that helped cut me down some.

then i found snus. i played around with it trying all sorts of combinations, types, strengths, etc. what ended up working best for me was to constantly keep some snus in so that i did not have those bad nic cravings that make you says screw it and smoke.

at first i thought i needed to be careful not to up my nic dependance so i would sissy around with low levels of nic snus. when i jumped up to around 10-12 mg snus my cig smoking fell a lot.

i was still smoking some and just could not give those last few up. so i started buying nasty tobacco. i still allowed myself to smoke but the tobacco i would buy sucked really bad.

I got down to 2-3 a day, most days 2. after eating and potty time. that went on for 3-4 months but i would not give those last two up. one day my wife offered me a deal to stop... you know what kind of deal i mean. so i said ok and threw them away and never smoked again.

This whole process took me about one and a half years. sometimes i would slip back a few days and then clean up my act. if i had not wanted to quit so bad i aint sure if i could have kept with the program.

after a while my massive snus use dropped to acceptable levels.

i should add that i loved smoking. only reason i wanted to quit was because i had to watch my dad dying from smoking. the dead part i can handle. its the long awful dying process that i wish to avoid.

            hey snusomatic, congrats

what you did is called gradual withdrawal, you were a lucky one by all means, most people fail that way.

in the gradual withdrawal, the psych suffer the most, even more than when you go cold turkey, basically you're not entirely accepting the quit and continue smoking "bits" and pieces just to get your day going........ good that you made it.

the mental addiction is the hardest to beat, quitting nicotine altogether does make you a different person :-)

            sometimes a better person

The thing that has helped me the most, and what I missed the most when I quit is the social aspect of smoking.

By this I mean my coworkers and friends would take a smoke break and here I am still working (aircraft mech) or sitting inside, missing out on the conversation.

I have quit smoking unsuccessfully for 2 years. I quit the first time in 09 for 9 months, got stressed out and threw in the towel. Quit again in 2010 for a few months, and again in 2011. Now after 2 weeks of Snusing I have had 1 smoke.

What I did differently this time is when everyone goes outside, I join them. I pop in a Snus and enjoy the social aspect just the same. I have gotten some funny looks, questions from a few, but at the end of the day its not dipping and spitting everywhere so they are cool with it .

I hope this helps anyone else as much as it seems to help me so far.

Today is 8 days without smokes thanks to snus.
So far I have tried around 6 different cans and I really like them all so far.
It is hard to pick an everyday brand.
I do think loose will just be for evenings and weekends cause of the mess factor.

I think a lot of us here use portions when out and lös at home. It can get messy, but that's half the fun! :-)

As my confidence level grows and my baking skills improve I may try los at work.
I do construction so I really do not worry about what I look like at work but I would only bake with clean hands though so it may be reserved for break and lunch.

I wasn't a smoker, but my uncle was a 2 pack a day smoker. I think he had some of the same issues that you had (snus just wasn't "working" fast enough). I convinced him to try Thunder Frosted ES.

Maybe it's just me, but Thunder Frosted hits you with the nicotine very fast & it hits you like a freight train. It seemed to work for my uncle when the regular portions & his regular snus wasn't cutting it for him. If not Thunder Frosted, then try to pick some extra strong portion/los and let it do its thing. A few minutes of waiting isn't as bad as breathing that smoke into your lungs bro.

                              Give it a try.

Oden's Extreme is good as it give a long lasting nic relase and hit, it doesn't smack you in the face but keeps you going for hours and tastes great!
