    Why not lower lip?

Why are you supposed to upper lip snus? Aren't dip and chew generally lower lipped?

It has to do with more optimal nicotine absorption and less moisture collection, even more so negating the need to spit. Even when I experimented with dip, I upper lipped for that reason.

Dip and chew generally are lower lipped Yes, But snus is not dip or chew...

It is... Well! snus! And is meant to be upper lipped and as said by dman has to do with more optimal nicotine absorption and less moisture collection.... If you try to lower lip snus you will get excess drip/Saliva and the absorption rate will vary and have more of a need to spit even though snus can be gutted/swallowed, Thus why most dippers don't think snus works or has a low nic content, Snus is meant to be upper lipped for optimal nicotine absorption... But if you try to use Los snus in the lower lip it will mud slide very quickly and you will have a bad experience... You may get the nicotine, But may not like the mud mouth... Los snus is hard enough in the upper lip never mind trying to control it in the lower... Truth about snus is Great...

I like to use portions in the lower...it seems to drip less for me, esp snuses like skoal or camel....the american ones...they have to be lower lipped or they drip horribly and taste nasty

Sorry Dude, But skoal is dip not snus and camel is an abomination of swedish snus and still not real snus.... They have to be lower lipped because that is not snus.

Interesting you say that, I have no problem upper lipping any kind of snus; including Skoal and Camel. I even upper lipped dip. I cannot lower lip for the life of me, I can never get my portion or pinch to stay in. I won't disagree about the Skoal though, way too much drip and it almost makes me nauseous. One tin of the Skoal snus convinced me to never buy it again. The flavor isn't too bad, but something about it didn't agree with me. It was also I found harsh on the gums. It tastes similar to the Marlboro snus I find, but given a choice between the two I'd probably take the Marlboro. If I have to take American snus and am not anywhere where I can get General, I usually get Camel myself. I like the Mint one myself. That all being said, given a choice between that and the General...I'd take the General over the Camel any day of the week.

skoal claims to have a snus...whether it is or not im not sure...they have nothing on their website....i dont use either skoal snus or camel snus that much...but once in awhile. Camel snus at least has a website and claims to have only food stuff in it and claims to not ferment it...and has pictures of some fancy machine they supposedly process it in...not the best but its the best american!

The Skoal snus actually isn't that bad. The portions are massive though. It's a bit sweet. It's made with MUCH higher quality tobacco than the camel "snus".

Use REAL Swedish snus anyway you want, upper lip, lower lip...it doesn't matter. As others have said, if you lower lip it...you'll get waaaaay more spit, but since you're swallowing it, it doesn't matter. I often lower lip and sometimes I even place a portion under my tongue. So, it's really up to you...just enjoy your snus.

Skoal and Camel are shit, and don't deliver enough nicotine to curb nicotine cravings of any magnitude. I'd stay away from them, besides...we have NO idea what's in these products. With Swedish snus, the ingredients are right on the can ;-)

I frequently use general loose in the lower r/h or l/h side. I also transfer portions down there for a bit if they are a white portion type. I have also stuck some snus under the tongue just to see what it was like. The results were far more user friendly than trying this with cope snuff.
