    Hi Jon - and welcome.

Unfortunately for you (and for us) - you've joined us at a dreadful time for all people from EU member states. Despite a heavy wealth of evidence that using snus is an amazingly safe harm reduction technique and often succeeds with people who find it hard to quit smoking with alternative methods - the EU parliament in it's wisdom has sought a policy of banning this safest of oral tobaccos (with an exception for Sweden) while simultaneously allowing the pretty lethal cigarette be sold on practically every street corner along with many more dangerous oral products favoured by some ethnic minorities such as Makla.

Following a test case brought against an online company selling snus out of Sweden last year by an anti-tobacco campaign group, it has been ruled that it is not legal to buy snus from any online source in the EU including Sweden. You have the choice of buying products from the USA via Northerner.com - but every order is subject to clearance through customs and is pretty unreliable. You could also bring some back from Sweden which is legal for personal consumption - or make your own from raw unprocessed tobacco.

Sadly those are your legal options - and ours too now. It makes no sense unless you realise that the EU parliament is in the pocket of both big tobacco companies as the revenue to individual governments through taxation on cigarettes is a huge income ... and also in the pocket of large pharmaceutical companies like Glaxo etc. who make nicotine replacement therapies which use medicinal nicotine alone and generally are less successful in weaning people off cigarettes than snus is because other chemical compounds in tobacco plus the ritual of using it are key factors in the addiction.

Of course - if you currently don't smoke or use no tobacco product and are not addicted to nicotine, my advice, and advice often repeated here is DON'T START DOING ANY OF THIS STUFF - being an addict is annoying and no form of using nicotine is healthier than not using it at all as it raises your blood pressure. I would say the same thing with caffeine by the way!

    Cheers

No - there is no customs between EU countries - in a posted item it's like walking through the blue channel at the airport. Anything coming from outside the EU is subject to import duty.

If you were to have a friend who sent you snus from Sweden then I guess it would be OK.

        Cheers

Lucky you! Just make sure it is a gift - because buying snus online from Sweden is technically illegal as far as I can tell.

I don't know the answer to that - but it's probably very unlikely indeed!
