Question from a beginner

Hello all, thanks for all the info on this board! It's been a great help to me. I have not been able to find an answer to this question, so I will ask here.

I got my first order of snus from Northerner about 2 weeks ago. I opened all 5 tins and stored them in the refrigerator. I find that the portion snus still work right, but the loose snus has dried out. I put some in this morning and after 10 minutes couldn't get any flavor, so I took it out.

Perhaps it's just me making the pris too tight or else the stuff dries out and becomes unusable after a while. I don't know. Are there any rules about how long an opened tin of loose and portion snus keeps in the fridge before drying out?

Welcome Priest! Does the snus look and feel dry? Is it different that when you first opened it? Whatever the case may be, I have lös cans in my fridge that have been open for like 2 months+ and they are still good and moist. Sounds like either it was dry to begin with, or your moisture expectations are too high?ow does the snus compare to itself 2 weeks ago? Also Swedish Match brands that come in cardboard cans tend to dry out much faster than those in plastic cans.

Thanks Roo. The tin in question was a Roda Lackett. I just put in a Thunder Frosted, the strong stuff. This tin was opened at the same time and I notice it's ok. Both tins have round pellets of tobacco mixed with the regular stuff. The round pieces appear more dry than the rest. Good to know that I can expect these tins to be going strong a good while after opening them.

Another Q: When I make the pris, I often find that it sits in my mouth a bit lower than I would like. I try not to make them too big and also try to stick it as far up as possible. In the past I've tried using my tongue or finger, a little while after putting it in, to push it up. But that leads to the mud mouth, so I'm wondering how I can make that thing stay up all the way?

Paperboard tins dry out quicker than plastic. I like paperboard due to tradition, but they should use a tin lid also. If they're gonna use a plastic lid, they might as well make the whole thing plastic. As far as flavor goes... I think it might be your taste buds. Röda's on the subtle side, and you may have just gotten "lucky" the first time. It can take a bit of time to develop your taste buds, but the flavor will get more pronounced the more you use it(over months), and a bit of dryness won't have much of a difference.

For placement, that'll come with time. It's hard to give suggestions cause everyone's different. Aside from smaller prises, just keep at it. You'll naturally gravitate to putting it where it's comfortable, and you'll learn what you can gt away with as far as poking/prodding go. Also your lip will stretch a bit, and it'll stay in place better.

Pris placement just takes time and practice, when I first started with loose I don't think there was any part of my upper lip where I didn't try it, not I just pop it in and it finds its spot. Your lip will stretch too so it becomes much easier to get it all the way up there so it won't move about as much.

If you like los, you might want to consider using an Ice Tool. I use a 3 ml size and it is perfect. Fortunately, they are running a special for snuson members right now.

I know this sounds crazy, but the looser you make the pris, the better it stays put. Try a hillbilly pinch and you will see what I mean.

Yeah...but it is still a theory...it is also said he hung himself where he did as a curse to the family in the tomb he hung himself in front of.

Catholic teaching (or dogma) is considered infallible as God speaks and teaches through the pope so until the Catholic church starts teaching this, a "Judas Priest" will be one who has turned on the church. Speaking from a traditional point of view, it doesn't matter what we want to believe...the church must be followed in that sort of situation, especially when referring to the title specific Judas priest....so the band can still stay edgy.

Now...about that hillbilly pinch....take a pinch of snus (small to start) and press it against the lnside of the can to compress slightly. Knock off the little hanging on bits and stick it in your upper lip. Yum!

Just the way you said you opened all your cans prior to putting them in fridge, and then had a problem with dry snus...
