Hey there community, decided it stop lurking and start posting.
Anyway, about a month ago I was sitting in my garage having a cigarette (I have a 2 yr old, so no smoking inside) and just kinda had an epiphany. I realized that I really didn't like smoking anymore, at least not at the frequency I had been accustomed to. I have been smoking steadily (1 pack + a day) since I was about 14 or 15 and being 31 now,it just seemed time to take a break. So, what could I do? To be perfectly honest, cold turkey was out of the question. Knowing that I would just turn into a horrible prick trying to stop nicotine intake all together, and not wanting to lose my wife and job in the process, I had to find some other solution. Well, about 5 yrs ago, I decided I was going to cut down on smoking by supplementing dip. It worked at first, but after a few months, I was back up to my regular cig consumption, plus a can of Copenhagen every 2 days. 3 years of that....Yeah, smart to pick up another habit huh? So dipping to stop smoking was out of the question. E-cig? My wife has one, and I had tried to use it exclusively a few times, which resulted in having an 'analog' in between my electronic sessions. Yet again, an extra habit. Chew? Nah, tried it when I was dipping, and there was not enough nic to help me. Patch or pills? Nah, I'll pass.
So what to do? Well, it kinda came to me...about a year ago we flew back north to visit family, and I needed something so I wouldn't go ape shit on the flight. Not wanting to hear "that's disgusting" for 3 hours every time I spit my dip from my wife, I got some Camel snus. Worked as a stop gap, although I had to pop 4 ever hour to feel relief. From watching YouTube when I was getting into dip (specifically Snusify) I knew the Camel stuff was patterned after a Swedish product. So lemme go on Northerner and order a few cans...yeah, not really an economically viable option unless you're ordering a lot. Luckily, using the store finder option on Generals site, I located one that was only a half hour from my work, so off I went...
Got one can each of mint, wintergreen and white portion. Popped one as soon as I purchased it, and something strange happened...I actually didn't feel like smoking. I almost instantly went from a pack a day smoker to 3 or 4 cigs a day. Then this past Friday, I had a cig at 4 and haven't had one since. Kinda crazy for me to just stop like that, but I'll take it. Mint was good, kinda refreshing for after meals, or in the morning. Wintergreen was horrible, but I figured I had to try it. White portions were what I really enjoyed out of the lot though (and being an ex-Copenhagen dipper, it made sense). So after my initial 3 can purchase, I went back and bought a 5er of white portions and 2 cans of mint (reg not mini). Good stuff, used a little more than half a can a day so my "stash" would last a little while. And then this past Friday (after my last cig) it happened.. I decided to go grab a few cans early so I didn't have to go out during the week. Getting there I noticed they now had los in stock...needless to say, these past few days its been all los, except for when going out in public with my wife (I'm fine with embarrassing myself with a month full of baccy and black teeth, but she might have a little problem with it haha), and it seems I'm gonna be falling into the los when home/portions at work routine, which is fine. I'm planning on placing an order for more variety, but for me to make it worthwhile, I'm gonna have to order a bunch to justify the shipping....at least that's gonna be the story if ya get my drift.
Anyways, sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to stop in and introduce myself and say hi...but waiting for a tire job/ oil change, my boredom got the better of me and you got this rambling manifesto....also sent on my phone, so kindly ignore any grammatical errors, as I can't really proof read it without taking forever.
Enjoy the site, very informative and seems like a solid member base (although that Parrot dude seems a little questionable haha...j/k) and hope to enjoy snus as much in the future as I do right now.
