    Finally nearly a non-smoker

    Hello to all,

well after more than 15 years of smoking I am using snus now for a few months and the only cigarettes I still can't avoid are those that go with coffee or beer... But also that problem will be fixed in the future! And I won't let the united states of europe put me down although it is a difficult time here in Austria if you prefer non-smoking alternatives...

    Salute,

If you do smoke again (but don't!) get yourself a briar pipe and don't inhale into lungs. Enjoy the snus!

Yes - that is one of my favorites! I think the Xtra Strong version isn't really necessary - at least I can't see a real big difference.

Awesome to here ya quit with snus man...
I imagine the last couple smokes mentioned will fade away in due time..
I echo Ansel's suggestion of a briar pipe, only taken into mouth through nose....would help ya.

You guys must have Skruf readily available...

Congratulations and good luck with the final leg and also with finding more snus, I'm doing the same thing myself and doing quite well but still 3 a day so little way to go yet.

Do you feel now you prefer it so much more than the cig's? I'll also say get a pipe I have a couple and it is nice to sit and relax with a pipe...... with a nice glass of your choice too

Well when compared to good stuff like SM or Skruf I just feel like cigarettes can't give me the same good feeling I have when using snus. I smoked for a long time and am very happy that I nearly stopped now - which wasn't even planned by myself when I started snusing....

                    I understand ...
I know the feeling of holding onto the last 4 a day...
                    I say good job
Kinda strange when ya smoke and feel your doing it for nothing, do you get that experience?

I echo those feelings. When I finish my bag of rolling tobacco, I have no desire to even buy anymore. When that day comes, I plan on selling my Top-o-Matic on Craigslist and calling it good. The sun is finally setting on my smoking habit and it's definitely a good feeling. While my parents don't think too highly of my alternatives (Swedish snus, nasal snuff, and e cigs), hopefully they'll be happy I will no longer be smoking. My biggest motivation of all was my grandmother dying of lung cancer caused by smoking. It was gruesome to watch and I can no longer morally justify smoking. Also, like some of the above posters, I am beginning to enjoy the alternatives more than I ever did the cigarettes. Also, I think I found a convert in my grandfather. He is very open to trying e cigs and snus once he is ready to quit. It took a bit of explaining that it wasn't the same as dipping tobacco, but he finally accepted it.

                        Dman21,
Lots or times parent's can't understand / rationalize the harm reduction concept.
Expecially when their mind sees you using 3 different thongs instead...ya know?
Hell man be proud, you should be

Thanks man, appreciate it. In my household, my little brother comprehends it, as does my grandfather, surprisingly, from my immediate family. He is even encouraging me on my quest to make the switch. In my parents' minds, all nicotine is bad. Which I have explained time and time again that it simply isn't true. It's the smoke that kills, not the nicotine. Also, I wouldn't have gotten this far on just snus, e cigs, or nasal snuff. Rather, it's been a combination of all three.
