    Introductions from Montreal, Canada

    Hi Everyone!

I'm new here. I recently learned about Snus and I am interested in trying it, however I have no idea where to start...
I recently stopped smoking thanks to e-cigs, and have been medicating with a vaporizer. So now I almost never combust.
That's my first step. But nowadays I get cravings for a cigarette or two.
That's where Snus and Snuff comes in, as I'm also interested in snuff. (finding a reliable store that carries would be great!)

I'll be making my first order very soon, but I would need some guidance with the tons of choices out there.
I'm already familiar with white, original, mini, strong/stark and extra strong/stark variations.
I'm still lost as to which ones, as a newbie, I would enjoy the most. Any tips?

    Thanks very much!

    Welcome.
I started on general original, and that's probably the easiest place to start. Even if it's not your favorite, it will give you a decent expectation of what a traditional flavored snus would taste like. Then branch out to the fancy stuff.

Being in Montreal I would have to order my snus over the internet.
Therefore with shipping and customs it would be more economical to order more than 1 can.
Which ones would you recommend I start with?
Also, I am not willing to go with loose/lös snus yet.
I have to say it would be my first experience with snus.

      General Portions are already noted.
      Thank you!

Crow, that's very plausible. Some bodybuilders here seem to only eat that. 20 packs of horse meat and they take whatever 0cal pancake syrup they can manage to find haha.
I don't know much about horse meat, but I know we have outstanding Cannabis here hehehe

So really, the only I should get to start out would be general Original?
          Nothing else?
I have shipping fees and it gets expensive to just get 1 can for the shipping price...

Hello SunnyHours and welcome from me too!

It is never economical to order just one can from overseas ... you need to get at least 10 for it to be worth your while! Probably more!

My suggestion would be to go for a whole spread of different strengths, sizes, and flavours based around what you think you might like.

Certainly general original is a good one to try ... I would say a good 10 cans to order would be:

General Original Portion - traditional taste no.1 in Sweden - regular nicotine
Roda Lacket (white portion) - sweeter fruity taste also traditional - regular nicotine
Skruf stark portion - full bodied fermented tobacco - strong nicotine
Ettan los - THE unflavoured loose snus
Oden's Extreme portions - modern extra strong nicotine variety
Goteborgs Rapé mini (small white portions) - Classic herbal flavoured portions popular in Sweden - good to see if you like a mini
General long white mint portions - a good test whether you like minty ones and long shaped ones - regular nicotine
Jakobsson's Flader portions - a different taste again, elderflower - fruity and herbal at once - regular nicotine
Nick & Johnny Original Edge portions - a unique but natural spicy flavoured snus - slightly higher than average nicotine
+ one extremely flavoured snus of your choice whether it be Probe Whiskey, Thunder Brandy Alexander or Oden's Liquorice (lakrits) ... normally that's enough to show you whether you like a really flavoured snus or not - in the long-term it seems as if most of us here don't stick with these.

The above selection should give you an idea of the kind of strength of snus, size of portion, los or portion, overall taste you're going for and will massively inform your next order.

Hope that is of some help!

I'd normally agree, but Canadian customs can be a bitch. I think small quantities(≤5), and frequent orders are the way to go, and you assume you'll lose some in the process(or pay extremely high fees). Some of our Canadians could probably say for sure.

Ahh..! I'll definitely have to keep that in mind (would love to visit Montreal after I return from AU/NZ)

What do they call the mariana on the streets? Herbe? Marie Jeanne?

We can discuss this further in the Cannabis Thread. Feel free to drop in anytime.

Mostly just "pot". We speak mostly french in Montreal, but 90%+ also speak english.

Also, thank you Squeezyjohn for the exquisite answer.
                  I'll go with:
                  General Original Mini
                  General Long White Mint
                  Skruff Stark
                  Nick & Johnny Original Edge
Roda Lacket or Mocca Mini Mint

I've always wanted to learn French... Not the Standard French, but Quebecois French. I guess I would have to settle in Montreal for a bit to do that.. One day maybe...

Wow! Where are you from Crow? I'm very impressed. Not many people from the states know Quebec exist, much less know we speak French and a different one from France.
Just a funny fact, I understand every type of french, and I even understand some Creole. But some places/people in France don't understand our french, again, maybe they just don't want to understand :P

It's also a party city (on par with vegas during festivals, although not 24/7) and people are very friendly. Let's just say from experience that we have very nice people compared to other big Canadian cities...B.C is really nice though.

Oh and you can smoke (or vape) your meds pretty much anywhere you please, outside obviously, and nobody will say anything. Just watch out for cops...most cops will let you go with a warning and make you throw away your stash (or keep it for after work), but you might get in trouble with a power hungry cop.

Fine choices indeed ... I would suggest going with Roda Lacket rather than Mocca mint if you're already trying General mint - it is a classic!
