    Closest snus to dip

    Hi,

I'm a casual dipper and i'd like to move from dip to snus for health prevention

But, i've try some snus before and didn't really like it, especially the regular snus.

So, I ask, which snus as the closest taste to dip ?

I really enjoy skoal mint, skoal cherry and grizzly wintergreen.

I don't mind if they are loose or in poutches.

I've tried Jacobson Watermelon. They we're not that bad but not that good too.
I've also tried Thunder frosted, thunder Berry, Cool Orange and Thunder white cool mint and really didn't like any of them.

    Sorry for my english,
    Charles

Nick & Johnny Captain Yankee sounds right for you if you want mint, wintergreen and cherry. General mint (the US market one not the classic mint thats sold in Sweden), as its sweet, Jaks wintergreen is like wintergreen dip, those would be the closest but snus is a different animal to dip, its mainly about the tobacco not the flavour. Those 3 though would be the closest to your preferred flavours I can think of if you want sweet ones.

Trying to remember - I think it was Offroad that makes a :long cut wintergreen", it was cheap and I heard it wasn't too bad but I haven't tried it so I can't tell you how it compares to the bear

It was thunder LC winterpoo, offroad did long cuts but I can't remember what they were lol. The winterpoo was nothing like dip though as it wasn't sweet like dip is, it was just vile!

Here is my 2 cents........I dipped for 25+ years and snus is definitely the way to go...........however let the snus stand on its own

Think of it as a related but distinct product.....both beer and wine will get you drunk.....but if you spend all your time looking for a beer that tastes like your favorite merlot.......you are going to be frustrated.

Therefore branch out.....try the unexpected.....don't look for a snus that tastes like your favorite dip....look for your favorite snus

Try-- Goteborgs Rape.......Gustavus....... Phantom Blue.....Skruf........Odens Original ES (Extra Stark) ......Odens original Kanel.....Phantom Brown.......General ES.......Granit.....LD......Ettan..............Odens Extreme.

Most of these are flavored (ie not straight tobacco flavored----Ettan and Extreme excepted)......thus they will serve you preference for flavored tobacco.....and yet not try to duplicate dip.

Snus is like a fine roasting house coffee......while dip is like coffee in a can.......that said it will take a bit to adjust to the grind and the lack of over the top flavoring and sweetener found in dip.....give it time....in a few weeks one day the subtlety and blend of tobacco will be there.....at that point there will be no going back

In the meantime....try everything and throw nothing away.....if you don't like something at first.......freeze it and retry it in a few months......your taste will change

Keep us posted on what you try and like/dislike

also note all the above brands that I suggested assume you are using los (if you are using pouches/portions/bandits-- the list does not change......there are just more options open to you)

Oh....and welcome to the forum mate!

I've yet to find a cherry/berry or wintergreen snus that I've liked. But for mint I'd suggest Thunder/Offroad Frosted or Oden's Cold. Both come in loose and portion. They are spearmint rather than peppermint and I prefer the Odens Extreme Cold loose and the Thunder Frosted loose compared to the portions. For a milder mint taste with a hint of sweetness Skruf Slim Fresh are pretty good. If you like your mint sweeter like dip, Jakobssons mint portions might do the trick. Swedish Match have introduced some new mint flavours that I haven't tried yet but could be worth a try.

Agreed, I ordered some thunder berry and wintergreen when SC had the 50% off sale. Of the 3 cans of berry 2 remain and of the roll of wintergreen I think 6 are left. Keep trying different snus my man, eventually you will find one you love.

.......and then they will discontinue it.

I love Copenhagen....especially the wintergreen. General mint, General wintergreen and General white are excellent alternatives for me to get a break from dippin. The mint has a great strong flavor but the wintergreen isnt as heavily minted as say....grizzly Wintergreen but great flavor and General White has a unique flavor all its own.
