    The Hello Hiccups

Hi guys/gals. I'm still fairly new to snus, trying to kick the old cancer sticks. It's going OK so far, any time I snus instead of smoke is a good thing.. Days where I have some beer are especially tough. So far I'm still smoking throughout the day, but substituting snus in between or even a few hours at a time. Our first baby is coming in August and it would be nice to be done smoking, or only have a few, 5 maybe, not 30.

Anyways, I've ordered both loose and pouches. I enjoy both for different times of the day. I just opened a can of odens extreme and swallowing it made me feel slightly like puking and I got mad hiccups. The hiccups have happened with other brands and flavors as well. Is this something that will go away? It's really annoying. I've had American chew in the past and swallowing the juice is still slightly rough to do at times. Psychological?

Thanks for any advice and it's nice to meet you!

nope, it's completely normal for a new user. It's the nicotine that is causing you to hiccup. Your mouth, mucous membranes and throat aren't accustomed to ingesting nicotine. A simple sip of water or a drink will help wash it down and cure your hiccups. I've been snusing for YEARS and YEARS and occasionally I still get them when I overdo the vitamin "N". Stay with it, and welcome to the site and Swedish snus. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you for the prompt response. I certainly have questions about the different snus sellers online. I live in the u. S. And was really hoping this would be cheaper than smoking but my last 2 orders ended up costing the same as my packs of smokes all because if the shipping cost from Sweden. Is there really anyway to remedy this?

Where do you live? I'm the US brand manager for Thunder, Offroad, Jakobssons and Northerner brands of Snus. If we don't already sell to a local shop in your area, let me know the name and number of a local shop. I'll have my sales team contact them so that you can buy locally

And Rick if you don't mind me asking. I've done a ton of research already on Snus in general. I see studies that cannot relate snus to mouth cancer, but living in the u. S. And hearing so many different things it's still hard to realize. Since you've been snusing for a while do you have any significant mouth issues and do you personally believe cancer shouldn't be a worry?

I would appreciate anyone's responses to this as well that has first hand experience. I know what smoking is doing to me and I'm really trying to reduce harm.

Pennsylvania. I read all kinds of stuff that if you buy it in the US it's not as "fresh" and could be sitting in warehouses unrefrigerated for long periods of time thus increasing cancer causing agents etc... Not saying I absolutely believe that. Does it also have the same Swedish enforced quality standards if bought here?

Well, no. I personally don't have mouth issues and none of the THOUSANDS of snusers that I know have mouth issues. That being said, I cannot professionally speak about harm reduction, the FDA prohibits me or anyone else in the industry discussing how Snus is safer than any other form of tobacco. I'll let the members here answer this question for you. I always tell consumers to do their own research on the matter and it will become clear ;-)

I've never seen anything but General snus anywhere in Pennsylvania and I travel the state extensively for my job.

I just received my first order of a variety of pouches to try. I've only opened the Jakobssons melon and odens vanilla so far and like them both Alot. Got the V2 Limited edition sampler as well but didn't try them yet. Also ordered around 15 cans of Los variety which has been great for fishing. I like original tobacco flavors and flavored pouches.

It would be great to buy locally especially if it's cheaper than smoking. Are you personally located in U.S? Are you related to one of the snus websites I can check out since you've already been so helpful?

TONS of PA stores carry Jak's and Thunder, brother. You can go to www.snusdistribution.com and look there, but it hasn't been updated recently, as I'm coming out with a new and improved (constantly updated) store locator and website for these brands. And if we don't yet have a shop close to you that carries the product, we can make that happen for you in most cases. Just PM me the name and number of a local shop and I'll call them tomorrow.

Yes, I live in Kentucky. My offices are in CA and I commute at least once a month. I don't work for the manufacturers, even though they are all my dear friends and want them to ALL be wildly successful in the US :-) And I don't work for any of the online web shops, I work for the US distributor that owns the exclusive distribution rights to all those brands. Most tobacconists already buy something from our company because we're the largest distributor of specialty tobacco products in the US, so getting them to pick up our snus brands is in most cases, pretty easy. so get me that name and number (really the name is all I need).

I will certainly be in touch with you in the future when I start running out from what I already have. I don't want the shop to get this product in and I don't get there for 2 months til I run out. Thank you very much for all the helpful advice!

Most of the shops at www.snusdistribution.com already stock multiple lines, so no worries about having them order and sit there. Really, if you travel quite a bit in PA, I'm sure you hit Pittsburgh occasionally, so go see Mike or the Smoker Friendly in downtown Pittsburgh...both are great guys and will have what you need :-)

Believe it or not I live in central PA and only travel East and NE, Pitt is about 5 hours from me and the closet place on your site to get it is Harrisburg which is about an hour south. That's my luck lol.

I gave my brother one at a family outing and he didn't have a beverage handy at the time and he was hiccuping like a little girl...pretty funny actually. I had the same in the beginning and from time to time still do but very infrequent and very brief now, as long as I have a beverage handy.
