Another question: What is the ratio of portion to los snus sales in Sweden? Again, I don't know the answer, but I'll bet los outsells portion in Sweden by a little.
Difference in Los and portions?

I mainly use loose unless at work, then I use portions. Wish I could always use loose but obviously at times portions just make more sense. I also usually find loose to be easier on my lip and gums than portions, but some portions are more comfortable than others. As far as flavor, I usually find the taste to be pretty close, except for Roda Lacket. To me the portions taste very different from the loose and not in a good way. Roda loose is my favorite snus followed very closely by Ettan loose and original portions, but I do not care at all for the Roda portions!!! The loose is delicious though! Its the only snus that I literally have to keep my self from swallowing and eating it!!!

You would be wrong
In the USA smokeless tobacco in the los form is by far king.........probably by a 50 to 1 ratio
Now if you want to exclude dip from the mix and only specify snus..........the numbers will be stilted.......since the convenience stores and gas stations only tend to sell portions......I've never seen los for sale except in a pipe store............
Regardless......given the choice........... when a man here reaches for noncombustible nicotine..........he goes for Los..........just like God intendedWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

The reason General Los is not found at convenience stores is because they know it won't sell.

Most snusers I know, even if they start out with flavored snus, eventually end up using the old favorites, Ettan, Roda, General, etc.

The reason General Los is not found at convenience stores is because they know it won't sell.
Consider:
Camel is a brand that is most widely known for its cigarettes
SM owns established branded dip varieties such as Red Man
When Camel snus hit the market it came in with a low nicotine rate and with the slogan....."When you can't light up use Camel snus"
My point is that that the way snus is marketed in America is deliberately protective of the cigarettes and existing dip market.......in Sweden it is marketed as an overt replacement of cigarettes
Further, I am not sure that SM's hesitation to push los in America is indicative of the viability of portions over los.......rather I think the push of portions is an attempt to disassociate snus from dip (and thus all the redneck spitting and mudjug associations that come with dip)......... Again their own product interest in dip together with the conviction that breaking the Skoal/Copenhagen hold on the current American market will be an expensive hard fought fight……. are the real factors at play here……Thus rather than present snus as a dip alternative (which would place the market focus on los)……they have instead sought to dissociate dip and snus, protect their dip interests, and carve out a non-dip, harm reduction nitch with portions.
That I think is the reason behind the focus on portionsWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

In the end......I could care less weather portions or los are the bigger seller. My dream is that both would be reasonably priced and easily obtainableWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
