Beginner snus - next steps?

It IS a bad thing, because that one can of Roda Lacket los turns into ten cans of assorted los on my last order. You get used to having 5-6 cans of minis open at once, but the cans of minis only have 10 grams of tobacco. So when los takes over your life and you order ten cans of los (along with a roll of Tres Ankare minis), you end up freezing the roll and 10 cans of los (but not the free can), because you've not a clue how long it will take you to get through that 45 grams of baccy in the one can of los. And inevitably, you WILL purchase an Icetool, which is another $40 to feed the habit (unless you find the perfect deal in the Snus Exchange thread and get that Icetool for 20 bucks - HA!) Not that I am complaining, mind you. I have been an Offroad Cranberry sucking FOOL since Saturday.

Snus

In all fairness, the Oomph products aren't that bad at all. The 3 mg. Citrus Menthol is one of my favorites! If you are just looking for something that will give you a small nicotine kick they are worth a try. They won't give you a nicotine rush but they will keep you going.

It is interesting reading about Skruf reactions here. I like the flavor, but I can't seem to keep em in too long before I get really sick of them... I remembered my early experience with the stark los which was great... on a whim I ordered a roll of the original portion, and while they are ok taste-wise I just can't keep one in for more than 30 min.

sleipnir, the advise shared here is good... some people try everything and never find a brand to call their own others keep trying till they find one that clicks for them. I am in the latter camp in that once I finally tried Grov Snus I just stopped looking. I still order new stuff every few orders just because I like variety and you never know what is going to knock your socks off next.

Interesting indeed. I have fallen in love with Skruf over the past month. They don't make me sick at all, and could easily use just Skruf all day.

I'm going to be revisiting skruf soon. My first swedish snus was Skruf Tranbar, really wasn't too knocked out by it and i haven't ordered any Skruf since. That was back in April 09. Since then i have tried a fair number of different snus. Just recently i revisited some N&J which I wasn't too impressed with the first time around. This time i think it's awesome. So now i have the Skruf sample pack coming from Getsnus, 2 cans of reg and 2 cans of Stark for $12.00. Looking forward to trying the stark.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you had little to no prior nicotine addiction before coming to snus. If so, I, and most everyone here, would say quit now. Snus is cool and all, but I would strongly suggest you seriously contemplate your motives for assuming this kind of addiction.

Now that the parenting is done, if you're getting by with regular minis, I don't think I'd jump into the 8mg league until you need to. No reason to raise your tolerance. There are many flavorful minis out there for you to try. I've tried the available Discreet flavors and they're all good. 7.4 mg nicotine, but feels more like a regular mini. Beyond that, I have very little experience with mini portions. I'll have to let some of the more experienced mini users answer you more fully.

Well I never had an addiction to nicotine prior to snus, and I love snus. I am not sure if I can quit now. I did give a thought to the non-nic choices of snus but it just doesn't seem the same. I started by accident and now love it. It is something like smoking a cigar for me. I just love the flavor. I catch grief from my husband who thinks it is dumb that I started this habit now at 28, but it is my prerogative. He can get over it, since he has smoked for 20+ years, LOL.

As for Discreet, yuck. If you pick a minty mini use Thunder or General Dry Mini Mint, they are far more superior in flavor. Something in the Discreet and other American snus has an after taste and smell of vitamins *puke*

I started out with Camel here is the US like most and made the switch with the General and Catch. Both are good choices. Now I use Thunder Frosted regular with 16mg of nic. It doesn't come on fast and lasts a long time. It is my wake up snus of choice.

Good luck in whatever you give a try. So far I haven't found anything I totally hate, besides the obvious American snus.

I started snus, and snuff, just out of curiosity. I did used to smoke a long time ago and quit, and then I'd only smoke when I drank. It was my boring and lonely job that got me thinking of getting some Skoal Bandits just for "something to do", which led me to find snus when I was doing internet searches. Got some Camel at the gas station which led me here, and to Swedish snus. I do enjoy snus and use it all the time, but I believe I could quit it if I decided to.

Ettan's a solid choice, as is Grov. Röda Lacket's very nice, but not like the portions. It doesn't have the fruitiness though there is a prunish flavor in the back.
