So far all of the snus' I've tried have been flavored except for General White which I don't like at all. I am wondering what other non-flavored snus' anyone can suggest I should try. I don't want to miss out on anything, but don't want to waste money on snus I know I won't enjoy.
So far I like: Thunder Coola ES, Thunder Frosted ES Mini, Thunder Frosted Long+ Strong, General Mini Wintergreen and General Dry Mini Mint.

      Thanks in advance!

Welcome i am yet a humble newbie myself but if you like flavored maybe a Odens Kanel (cinnamon flavor) or Gotlandssnus Flader (green apples and elderflower) or perhaps Gotenborg Rape #2 (lingonberry herbal flavor) would suit your tastes .oh and lets not forget my fav mint snus Catch Pure Mint which comes in a neat tin. there are plenty of reviews on all types of snus just check around this forum or snubie.com or snusify as they give great revues on taste and comfort and some history on each product.

Thanks Sirloot! I appreciate your help and think I'll try some of the Gotenborg Rape.

Brand new to the site, and new to Swedish-style snus. Need some tips.

Got started in Cope chew and American "snus" (ie, the Camel pouches) a while back. This stuff has always given me the buzz I want, but the taste has always been kind of.... off, I guess. A friend suggested I try Swedish snus, and I figure this site is as good a place to start as any.

                1. First off, I was looking at Northerner as a supplier, but it appears that they are having some............ issues, shall we say. Looking also at buysnus.com. What are some other good places to look at?

                2. Yes, you can call me a noob if you wish, I'm brand new to this stuff. But.............. why is Swedish snus refrigerated? I never put the Camel stuff in the fridge.

                3. Which would be more recommended for a beginner to snus? Portions or loose? I'm familiar with American portions, I'm just wondering that since loose snus is different from loose chew, would it be better to start with portions and then move on to loose once I get used to the difference of snus from chew?

                Thanks!

PS: looking at General Los, Goteborg Rape #2 portion and Jakobsson Classic portion for first go at this. Thoughts?

                  Welcome!

                  3. Try both los and portions to start.

                  1. Northerner is the lowest price shipping for smaller orders. Snus central gives a deal on your first order with them though.

                  2. It is pastuerized and regulated under the Swedish version of the fda to food standards. Keeping it refrigerated keeps it fresh and hinders the rise of tsnas.

Those choices look good but I always reccommend Phantom Brown los as a try.

If you like wintergreen try jakobsson wintergreen and if you like Monty try offroad frosted (spearmint) or Jakobsson mint.

                  Welcome to snuson!

I used to prefer buysnus.com, but that's ordering from the EU, so no idea how it works in the US.

Snus is refrigerated to keep it fresh. Seriously though, the idea is to prevent it from drying out and to prevent TSNAs from rising. That said, a can you plan on using within a week or so doesn't need to go in the fridge.

I would recommend you stick with portions in the beginning. They're preferred by most people for good reasons.

Goetborg is very good, Jakobsson Mint and Wintergreen are nice too, haven't tried Classic yet. I suggest you pick up a can of General Long though. It's the classic Swedish taste in a very comfortable portion.

Got those 3 tins on the way from snuscentral. Decided no to Northerner for now until they get whatever issues they are having solved.

                      Looking forward to this!

                        Hey all
dropping in as a noob to the forum and to the world of Swedish snus.
long time on and off dipper (mostly pouches, up to three at a time....very rarely loose)...started in New England prep school about 4 years ago where all the kids dipped (big hockey school) because it was easiest to get away with.
Started getting paranoid last year that I would develop some sort of oral cancer but I was never a big smoker. Remembered i'd tried American Camel and Marb snus in the past but wanted something "real".
I found a really informative snus site (can't remember the name) which linked me to Northerner and I ordered the try out box on a whim. It's been pending 3 weeks now haha... wish i'd found snuson first...as i found the forum while trying to find info about typical Northerner shipping times...

Anyway...I did order two cans to tide me over. Gotland Anis and Goteborg Rape N.2 (portions), which came quickly. It's has been a great experience slowly getting accustomed to the flavours and technique...no spitting is fantastic and the first time i officially got the flavour of the Goteborg (instead of salt) was a great moment. Can't wait to try some new stuff and find "the one" or two or three...

If it was the YouTube page of the guy who ate a can of Ettan los....I promise, we're not all like that.

                          haha, kidding!

                            Welcome to snuson razr!

I vaguely remember when snus began to taste like something other than salt.......it was a great day!

Try a bunch of flavors and if one doesn't get on with you throw it in the freezer and come back to it later!

Bare with Northerner..... they are good people that just get overwhelmed sometimes. (NOTE: easy for me to say, I am not waiting on an order) LOL

Have fun in the upcoming taste tests!

Twenty-five year smoker switched to Swedish snus five weeks ago (just before my 41st birthday) and I love it. I've smoked some over these five weeks, but I've almost never enjoyed it. I'm still transitioning and I just can't see ever going back to smoking. I'm loving smokeless tobacco.
