for the Canadians that snus we always keep our fingers crossed that our order slips through. Mind we only have to pay taxes and duty on it, Australia takes it from you don't they?

It's restricted only in large amounts - 1.5kg. For personal use, posted snus, customs send you an invoice. It's about $588 per kg of tobacco, calculated on net weight of tobacco, including water content . So if the order is split up into 5 cans per envelope, and you get minis with 10g of snus in each, it's $588 * 0.05 = $30 plus GST. GST is 10% of cost + duty + shipping - so maybe another $10?

I'm getting this information from the customs website, but it seems wrong, because I remember my last invoice was for about $80 for 5 cans of mini.

Normally they charge a handling BS handling fee as well. In canada 5 cans of regular will run about 48$ if they catch it. $30 for duty and 18 in bs gst and handling.

Maybe they caught 2 of mine together? I wonder if you can question their calculations, like if they just weigh the can rather than taking off the weight of the plastic/ tin itself. The buysnus website shows the 2 weights, the tobacco itself, and the postage weight, which makes the can about 11-16g. At that price, it makes a huge difference!

For us they just round to the nearest 50 gram increment. That's why I don't order minis, for me getting caught with minis or regular portions would cost the same so might as well get a bit more bang for the buck

I am not sure how the Ausie system works but elsewhere individuals can send snus to friends and avoid the customs racket legally. That is why the snuson Tobacco exchange thread might be a good place for you to look. It might not be the whole solution......but it might help out some.

Hello to all Snusoners. Brand new to the forum but an old snuser going back to 2007. I first discovered it through a Swedish girlfriend in 2001 but only began using it full time in 07. My regular brand was General Portion...and how I miss it....hey ho...here's to happier times. It's great to find a forum on the interweb dedicated to all things snus.
I've also recently began using nasal snuff as well which I've found myself quite partial as well. I look forward to joining in and chatting to you.

It still is but I live in London so since Swedish Match have stopped shipping within the EU, I can't get my hands on any. I've been mostly using Thunder over the past few years because that's what Northerner.com seemed to have on a regular basis although, I have just received a mixed order from Oden, so I'll be snussing my way through that to see if I can find a new favourite. I've not found the bergamot/citrussy goodness I remember but I'll have fun looking.

Welcome to the forum glad you found us.........we have quite a few snuff, pipe, and cigar users so you should fit right in.........in fact I am waiting for a Dholakia Madras to arrive at Mr. Snuff before I place my next order.
