Hello again! I haven't been on the forums for a while because of my relapse into cigarettes. I found out that the reason for my relapse was that my medications stopped working. When they stop working I get severely depressed with episodes of paranoia. Cigarette smoking has always helped me through these severely dark times. Now that everything is squared away in regards to medication and therapy I decided to give snus another go. I just popped in General Onyx today for the first time since march and I felt wonderful. It is even more satisfying than I remember! Glad to see that more people joined since I last logged in, it shows that people are making healthier choices when it comes to tobacco. That is what this forum is all about.

Got my first sample order in yesterday. Been snusing for a week though and really like it Been smoke free for a 3rd day now. Before the snus i used e-cig and did couple of analogs per day, but really think that with PV and snus im gonna be smoke free.

Krahv welcome to the world of Snus! Its awesome and at 1.5 months smoke free I can say it works. I do find it hard to keep only 3 cans open at once, so many flavors to try!

Hey. I have been lurking and reading for the last few days and got my first ever order of snus today. And I must say it's kinda good. I first tried it a few years ago when I was working with a Swedish editor who used it. Back then I was thought it was a strange way of consuming tobacco and I loved my cigs far to much to give it a real try. Well that has changed. I kinda hate smoking now, I just do it because I don't really know how not to. My work gets insanely stressful and every time I try to go cold turkey I become impossible to work with and crack after a few days.

Anyway, so my snus arrived this morning and I have had one in my mouth pretty much all day and haven't needed to smoke yet. I ordered mostly small white portions as I seemed to remember reading elsewhere that that was a good way to start, but seeing as how much my gums are hurting already I was thinking I should of got some of the "original" ones. Are they gentler on the gums? Or maybe the gums just toughen up. I have been using the Gotenburg Rape ones most of the day. At first they were nice, but the juniper taste is starting to feel a little too perfumed for me now. I guess I need to try a load of flavours and see what sticks. The Ettan white that I have in right now seems to be pretty good.

It's all gonna take a bit of getting used to and I'm sure I will still want a cigarette in the morning, but so far this snus thing seems pretty good.

Oh.. also I'm in the UK and bought my snus from snusbutiken.com. Are they a good shop to be going to?

Welcome Derg and you are certainly on the right path. Your tastes will be all over but may I recommend some Ettan Original portion & some skruf tranbar... Those are both mild yet flavorful in their own way and being non-whites, will give you a good idea if your gum pain eases up quicker but with the gum pain/irritation... it will just take some time as it's probably the salt content being the main irritant when you first start snus'n (1st few weeks...) You will adjust.

Personally I find the whites rougher on my gums than the originals/browns but that's just me. You might find some originals/browns a little more comfortable.

snusbutiken.com looks to be a Northerner.com satellite site. Do they offer the 3 day guranteed Fedex service like Northerner.com do? I find that great value for money bearing in mind the cost compared to UPS for a reliable delivery service with tracking. Also Northerner have their Club 100 promo whereby every can/roll you buy earns you points towards a free roll when you get to 1000 points.

I started with General mini originals/browns and went up from there. Skruf are a good hybrid inbetween originals/browns and whites if you find the originals/browns drip too much and the whites are a bit rough on your gums.

Just on the gums, mine were dreadfully painful the 2nd and 3rd day after starting, but cleared up after that. First it was painful, then it felt sort of "detached", and now everything feels great.

I kinda figured the painful gums would be something I just had to grin and bare. I guess I should have got more of a variety of portion types with my first order. I went for lots of different types, but all in the "white" variety. Might make another order soonish. I do have a can of skruf original white if that's what you have in mind Pris..

It funny you mentioned the drip aspect as I was just this afternoon thinking I quite liked the taste of the tobacco juices and wasn't too worried about drip. But just now I tried putting a portion in at the back of my mouth to save on my hurting gums and boy did it drip a lot. That was way more juice then I could handle. So.. yeah, maybe drip could be an issue if its anything like that.

Also, as I'm trying lots of brands out, I seem to be opening a fair few packs. Is there a general rule of thumb as to how many I should have open at once? How long do they last once open?
