Hi all. New to the forums and snus; just started using snus about 2 weeks now and this is how I found out about it......

I was at my cousin's house 3 weeks ago and and his son who was A smoker had put something in his lip and thought nothing of it as me and my cousin went out to smoke. Well he came out 5 min later and I noticed he wasn't smoking and asked if he quit. He told me all about swedish snus and how he has been doing it since christmas and has now been quit for 4 mo. He gave me A can of Nick and Johnny strong and said try it if you like it fine if not then you don't. I came home with the can and put it in the fridge and there it stayed until I researched it on the web. I ran into snubie.com and read up on everthing chad had to say and then saw his links to this forum and read more and more. I decided after 3 days I will give this snus a try and popped in A Nick and Johnny and thought well at least it doesn't suck and as the next 3 days went on I found I was liking it more and more and wasn't really waiting for that next cig as much when I had 1 in. So I placed an order for 10 mixed cans to try and am really enjoying snus and am smoking less. I didn't really go into this to quit smoking but hey if it happens cool and I now find myself wanting to snus more than smoke.
Glad I found snus and now this forum.....

Thanks for the welcome everyone... Yeah when I first heard of snus i thought well!! Just another quit smoking gimick and then I read..read..read on this forum and popping in portions of N&J and then thought no it's not and then ordered. Since going back to smoking 10 mo. ago I found out that i cough more now than i did 2 yrs ago smoking and more phlem, more wheezing, I snore more and these damn new fire safe ciggs won't stay lit and make you huff on them faster and swear that the chemical they use for this is causing all these symptoms. Besides I can't stand that I reek of smoke and didn't know until I quit, Now I know why people were backing away from me back then in a store... Hell I thought I needed to check my shorts when I got home or thought did i pass gas? Nope I reeked of cig smoke.. I'm not the comfortable smoker I once was. But now snus has come into my new life.

I felt I needed to be cautious about my 1st order and took me a week because not only did I want to make sure I got what I thought might be good tasting and right for me. It also took me 7 of those 10 mo. back on smokes to get my wife to stop with the dramatics of holding her nose, making pew sounds, waving her hands and the like after coming in from outside or getting in the car after one and somewhat accept I smoke again as she doesn't anymore and hates the smell.

I told her at first about snus and got the chew/dip no your not thang... I told her it's not like that and gave some info.... anyway she seems more interested in it and keeps wanting to know if I have one in as she can't tell and last night said let me see it while I had one in and of course said no as it was all juiced up and slimy and don't need that ewwwwww!!!!! yuck!!!! comment. I aint stupid I might be a nicotine addict but not a dumb one.. See you all around the forum i'm sure

She'll come around quick. She'll love that you don't smoke and realize it's because of the great and awesome snus! FTW!

You, my friend, are not alone.

The chemical used to keep smokers constantly puffing? ...

Are the new FSC fire-safe cigarettes making smokers sicker than ever?
                  July 12, 2010

After lighting up are you experiencing more headaches, stomach cramps or a coppery taste in your mouth? Does your new FSC (fire-safe cigarette) taste bad, cause dry mouth and are you coughing more?

New York State was one of the first states to require that cigarettes be made with the new fire-safe paper. This paper is constructed by gluing two or three thin bands of less-porous paper together with an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion based adhesive (carpet glue).

Damn, let's make a lethal product more lethal... That'll teach 'em!!
Thankfully the FDA is looking out for the average Joe Blow!
(Of course, the carpet glue must be food-grade!)

Snusgetter, Didn't know about the carpet glue... Thanks for the info... wish I knew this before I went back to the ciggs 10 mo. ago but doubt it would have made a difference any way, it was either I go back or be in a mental ward at the time... Yeah, I hear alot of people who still smoke complaining these days about it and some have even resorted to those E-Ciggs because the new ciggs are giving them tthose symptoms... I have seen alot of people have them, But what I had gathered from them the cartridges aren't cheap and they break down or don't work when you need them most....

Wish I new about snus back then, But the important thing is I found it now..... and not lethal at that.... and no stick to walk around with... I'm good to go

Hello! Im Dave, and I've been snusing for about 2 weeks now. My first experience was with the Camel crap, but my desire to know more about snus led me to my discovery of Swed Snus. Since I put my first portion of real snus in
my mouth I haven't smoke a ciggarette since. Which I think is pretty good considering that o was smoking about a pack a day. I initially bought a pipe to try to quit but I found that once I finished a pipe I still needed a ciggarette. Snus solved all of that! I have only one issue with snus though sometimes it makes my upper lip blow up like a balloon. At first I thought it was from the ekstra sterk portions/los I was using, so I made an Order for some regular strength stuff and it still happens but not a severe. I guess once my mouth becomes aclimated it will stop. Aside from that, hello everyone and I am looking coward to becoming a part fthis great community! I typed this out on my iPhone so please forgive my mispellings and bad English even though I'm American. This thing trys to help with spell check but It makes things worse sometimes lol

                          I started to ask:
"Isn't there some way to turn off spellcheck on the iPhone?"
then decided to BLOG the answer I found.

As to maybe helping out with your problem, I keep a bottle of Tom's of Maine baking soda mouthwash handy for whenever my mouth starts feeling icky after constant snus use (make sure it lists baking soda as a top ingredient). This seems to neutralize the mouth (and gives a great burn after you swish it). Hope that helps you with your situation.

                          On a more important note:

                          WELCOME TO SNUSON, DAVE
                          SNUS sure brings it ON!!

Hi, I'm Andy, a new convert to Snus from the UK. Been lurking a little while and finally decided to join in

I quit smoking 5 years ago, and have been struggling to stay off them recently but only fell off the wagon once when drunk but it was enough to start the awful cravings again. I remembered a Swedish friend of mine used to use snus, so I got myself a batch online and have been using it for about a month.

I'm not overly happy about feeding my nicotine habit again, but compared to the alternative of starting smoking again, it's a much better option for me - cheaper, less harmful, more discreet, less anti-social. The lesser of two evils, I suppose.

                            Pleased to meet you all
