Howdy! Since I have lurking here fror a few months-I figured that I may as well greet everyone I started snusing a few months ago and had my last smoke on Dec 7. At first, I didn't think snus was for me but once I tried it, I was hooked! Like most folks, I started with Camel and soon found out about swedish snus.

Have been experimenting with lots of different brands. I am kindof partial to minis because of the size, so Thunder frosted mini is my usual. I also use alot of General Wintergreen and like the Gote Rape regulars when discretion isn't a big deal;-) And of course some other varieties- trial and error. I wish that there were more mini (regular strength) portions available to choose from though. Discretion is important, especially at work and I am petite with a petite mouth-though hubby might disagree with the latter! LOL

I am also a wife and mother of two daughters, 1 grandson, another grandchild on the way and two rat terriers.Thanks for all of the great info here-it has helped me alot!

Hi mommabird, and welcome. Have you tried the Taboca Strong Minis? They're very tasty and, well, strong. I like LD mini, General regular and white minis, and even Phantom/Rothbrix minis, sometimes, too.

Welcome to Snuson! I noticed that all of the snus you listed that you've tried can be bought at Getsnus. Have you looked into Northerner or Buysnus? They have a larger selection of minis.

premium parrots-I do have some birds-an ancient cockatiel and parrakeet. I used to handraise cockatiels, hence the nickname mommabird;-) I haven't yet been able to get an avatar to take, even with resizing. Is there another place where I can post a pic?

I have ordered from Getsnus and Buysnus in the past and was very happy with them. I have also ordered from Jonathan at Clubsnus and he is fabulously nice and great customer service. I haven't had much luck finding a mini in the 8mg "dose" except for Thunder mini frosted, which I have finally gotten attached to. I have tried some discreet, and they are only ok. Haven't tried the Toboco yet, will check it out. I love General mini-mint, but you have to put two in for the nic effect.

I've had issues uploading from my machine. Your best bet is probably to use an image hosting site, and use that option for the avatar. I've been using imgur.com for web stuff, and they seem to work pretty well.

as to this whole discretion thing, I think much of that is really in your head. It seems to be a common thing with new folks and snus, thinking they need a mini to hide the snus. Honestly, probably not. But one trick that you might want to play with is push the snus farther back in your mouth. I have always been a bit of a freak, in that my normal place for snus is almost all the way back, next to my back molar. But the benefit is it makes any trace of a snus disappear, and will open up what you can use more.

The one possible drawback is a snus will tend to juice a bit more if it is pushed back. Perhaps the reason I switched to almost all whites a year after I started. But play with it, see if that helps.

And I see youa re in North Carolina too. what part?? I live in Raleigh.

sagedil-I live in the Greensboro area. We r practically neighbors! We have been in this area (both from High Point) our entire lives and still love it.

I have started migrating the snus towards the back a little and so far, so good. When I'm around the house or in my vehicle, I usually use the regular size and it doesn't seem to be as awkward than at first. On my job, I deal with the public and have to smile alot so I guess that's why I'm more self conscience. It sure beats smoking and standing out in the cold! LOL And, my lungs already feel the difference.

My ex grew up here, and then transferred to Berkeley where I met her. I grew up in California, but 15 years ago, convinced Laura to move back here right before we were married. Took a bit but I eventually fell in love with it.

Keep pushing the snus back a bit further. I can smile just fine and no one is ever the wiser. I once had a job and was told by the big manager that snus was not allowed. i just kept using, always had one in when I was in his office, and he was never one for the wiser.
