Need help from a Canadian snus user

I have a few questions regarding snus orders when living in Canada. I want to use Northerner so anyone with experience please let me know.
If im only ordering 1-6 cans, and i wont be home to answer my door, will they just put it in my mail box? And any idea what the taxes are like on small orders?

Will they put it in your mail box? That depends, if it doesn't get charged any duties/taxes then yes they will put it in your mailbox (space permitting).

If it does get dinged with duties/taxes, then the mailman will leave a delivery notification slip that they will put in your mailbox.

    The slip will tell you:
    a) where to pick up the package
    b) the earliest time you may pick up the package
    c) the amount of duties/taxes owing, which will be payable when you go to pick it up.

As far as your question goes on what the duties/taxes will be, check out this topic that deals with that very subject:

    Good Luck!

hey thanks for the reply. got any idea how fast i might get my package just using their standard shipping? Northerner says that it takes around 2 weeks to get to canada. Is that about right?

Is your Northerner order coming from their U.S. warehouse or from their Swedish warehouse?

I have ordered from both Buysnus and Northerner (Swedish warehouse).

Buysnus is generally really quick for me (4-5 days). Northerner was about 12 days. I think the reason for this is the fact that Buysnus uses the Swedish postal service and Northerner uses Swiss post. For whatever the reason that must make a big difference.

I haven't ordered from Northerner's U.S. warehouse yet**. You would think that theoretically it should be quicker coming from Pennsylvania vs coming from Sweden but I can't say.

Whereabouts in Canada are you from? My timeframes are based on me being in Ontario, if you are out West...well it could take a bit longer.

**from their U.S. warehouse to Canada that is. I have used their U.S. warehouse to send snus to my mother-in-law in America.

Trust me MCWP, if you are going to be ordering lots of snus in the future then make some foreign friends.

The whole game of Russian Roulette with your Canadian orders is gonna get real old for you and costly on those occasions you do get hit with duties.

Out of interest, what did you order?

If you order some Lucky Strike and Montecristo snus you could make some American friends on here pretty quick I bet!!

Just a faint pain. I was fortunate to try a can of LS Bold that was gifted to be by someone I can not name. The Bold was so good, the best snus I had ever tried. One that I would buy by the roll if I could. Just so sad.to know it is so close, but still kept away from my greedy little fingers.

How much tax do you pay to have snus shipped to canada?

I ordered from SnusCentral made a 75 dollar order (11 cans) and had an 88 dollar customs fee on top of that. I think its well worth it!

When it's not so much, you don't have to pay extra taxes. Second way is, when somebody from abroad send a package. Must be written "gift" And then it's free

Just because you put "gift" on the customs form doesn't make it tax free. As a general rule any product that goes thru customs that they can tax, they will....gift or not. However every once in a while if you are only sending like 5 or 6 tins customs may let it pass. There is a way I can ship up to 40 tins of portions or 30 tins of los where there isn't a customs tax. But there is a certain way to do it....and that's my secret. Go to the tobacco exchange here on the site for more info. Check out post #2 in particular. I ship all the time to Canada and the UK and have never had a package get tagged in customs. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you good luck mate.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
