I am peter from Austria (but live and work in Turkey) and i quit smoking by using snus. (sounds like the opening sentence of an AA-meeting :lol: )

I used to smoke about 15 cigarettes a day but as soon as i used my first snus potion, i had no need anymore for a cigarette. Nikotine together with flavor and not just tastless smoke is the way to go IMO.

I bought a couple of cans of göteborgs rape in my last holiday in sweden (at the mjörn near göteborg for fishing) just out of curiosity. I never used one until some friends from Austria visited me here in Turkey and they started to use snus as well.

This forum showed me already as an unregistered user where to buy, which one to buy and more good information.

At the moment i only use potions and the first ones i ordered are Onyx, Skruf Tranbär and Lucky Strike White Potion.

So far my favourite is General Onyx, shortly followed by GR and a bit behind Lucky Strike.

But here also my question: When i pop a Skruf Tranbär the first thing i notice that the bag is way harder and irritating to my gums and get so bitter after about 5 minutes that i have to take it out. (The snus is still fresh) Is that normal for a beginner or is the snus faulty?

Hey Peter, welcome.

I find that Skruf Tranbar portion feels fine, but it does go a bit sour on me after 40 min or so. Not 5! I have heard others say it does that to them. If you are looking for a sweeter snus there are lots of other choices. I really enjoy the OR/CV it tastes like chocolate to me, and some of the other Offroad LE are good as well.

Your reaction to the Skruff Tranbar is completely normal. Others who have used for years will get the same reaction from that snus.

Some snus bags are just rougher than others. has been a long standing knock against V2 snus, but has gotten a bit better. Ben at least 2 years since I last had the Skruff, but I remember the bags being a bit harsh. And flavor, I don't tolerate it well, hence the over 2 years since I have had ity.

So don't give it a 2nd thought, just maybe not your snus right now.

Since you like the Oynx, try some Nick & Johnny Black. Very similar ttaste, the N&J is a bit weaker version. But since I find the Oynx a bit over powering, I prefe3r the slightly weaker Nick & Johnny Black. Other suggestion is Lucky Strike Bold, maybe the best ever snus I have ever had a chance to try

And also thanks for the advice. As a coffee-addict, i definitly want to give OR/CV a try. Also on my shopping list is now N&J.

And the skruff goes into the freezer and either i give it away or i might adjust to it one day... lets see. (if i take part in one of the box passes, you'll know what you will find after me :wink: )

peter, don't you dare think about getting rid of the Skruff yet no matter how much you think you don't care for it. Just the way of snus. Stuff you think you hate today could easily become your favorites when you try them again in 3 -6 months. Just how snus works, tastes keep changing all over the map, especially your first year using.

This forum is filled with stories of folks who came to love snus they once thought they hated.
