    3 weeks and still going...

Ok, so I fell once at a party last weekend (and I smoked like crazy) I was drunk, I know no excuse but I know its ok, you guys said it was! I am still using snus as my only method ofobtaining nicotine (except as I mentioned when drinking with the guys). I have since received sage's package "wink", and I have tried some and really found that I liked things I didn't think I would, I also really enjoy General Original, and nick&johnnys strong.diggin the discreet (doubling up) at work because of the size and the smaller amt of nicotine during the day, as I am not a heavyday-time smoker. I have ordered some mini portions (general, frosted, and mint)and they will be here wednesday. Oh other tries, offroad cranberry- I loved the cranberry long lasting flavor; icefruit, I will try again, the first time I tried it it tasted--what was it christy? Windexy? But oh well we"ll give it another try. Thanks guys for all of your suggestions.
    XOXO

Yay, yay, yay, yay. I was hoping you got my little package. My friend, it just sounds like you are doing everything perfectly and I am happy for you.

That cigarette thing, handled perfectly. So what if you smoked that night, next morning, you went right back to snus. That is what you do. The whole smoking thing becomes just a non issue. I will promise that those moment of smoking abandon will reduce themselves with time.

I can't agree with Sage more on his "natural" approach to quitting here.

Speaking for my own personal perspective, I started snusing when I injured myself in a less-than-interesting series of accidents and I couldn't stand crutching outside to smoke every hour or so. I would still sit outside smoke while I read, and I would still make frequent breaks from the couch, much to the chagrin of my throbbing extremities, but i was really only using snus to tide me over between cigs.

Anyway, the point is, I never really intended to quit smoking with snus,it just kind of happened. Now I can't even finish a cigarette.

Yup, you and me were exactly the same. I too was just using snus as a "crutch" to get over certain work moments so I wouldn't have to fle for a cigarette REALLY had no intentions of quitting.

But that snus is so damn tough, she will work her magic regardless

In the 2 + years I have been telling that story, reassuring folks, I now have seen hundreds of folks take that exact same path with the same results

That's completely normal and to be expected. When I made the switch to snus I still allowed myself a weekend pack that slowly tapered to a monthly pack. The last pack I bought was July 09. You're doing great.

Yeah, don't beat yourself up over a one time. The most important part about making a change in lifestyle is looking at the averages of the behavior you're trying to change. I learned this when I first started losing weight. As a bit of an anecdote:

2 years ago I used to weigh 420 lbs (right now I'm around 280), and every weekend while I was losing weight I would still go out on the weekends with friends and drink and eat pizza and smoking, etc... Initially I felt bad about this until I actually plotted a chart of my weight loss. That's when I realized that even once a week splurging and being unhealthy wasn't even remotely affecting my overall progress.

It's the same way with smoking, only I think it's much easier, because getting drunk and eating pizza doesn't make your lungs feel like they're dying and they will once your lungs clean themselves out.

So I guess in conclusion, chin up and don't forget to look at this over the long term. Congrats on 3 weeks!

Thank you. I found a pack yesterday with 4 old marlboro menthols in it (so old the menthol was gone) yet I smoked one. I had a horrid day at work and needed comfort, and since that's the only form that it was available in- I took it. I regreted it the second I lit it but was too upset to put it out. Today I came home to find my order had come in with snuff and I immediatley used some. I'm also very happy with my order. I ordered some general mini mint, original and a few others but I'm definitley psyched about the minis. They are so small and I know they will be invisible at the office. Right now I'm taking 2 thunder wintergreens to the office in my (whatever flavor I feel like for the day) discreet pouch and I use a thunder with my coffee while I'm not being bothered in the morning, discreet the rest of the time and in the late part of my afternoon another thunder. Get home and do some original or nick&johnny strong. I know that I will fall, as I am only human (I have learned I'm not a super-if any of you have seen the incredibles) although it would be awesome. And everytime I hate it even more. I cannot stress how much I love that my hair (and I) smell like Coco Chanel instead of rancid smoke. I love it!again thank you all for always having advice and understending. 'Til next time...xoxo

lawofficegirl, my only advice... Stop regretting that cigarette when it comes. Enjoy it instead.

This is the new world you live in. You use snus most all the time. If you happen to have a cigarette once a week, or once a month, so freakin what. You won't smell of cigarettes from just that one, it prolly won't kill you. And FAR most important... For the first time in your life, that one cigarette won't lead to another just because you smoked it. THAT is the freedom that comes with snus.

So now if you smoke, really smoke. Enjoy it, remember back in the day when you first found cigarettes??? Remember those days when cigarettes were your friends.

Cause now with snus, they can be your friends again. There when you need them and gone when you don't.

Ya know what's great about this place Sage? The advice that everyone gives the people that come here wanting to find a way to quit smoking....never changes. It's awesome, the very advice you're giving lawoffice girl is the exact advice you gave me. I swear that next to my family, snus is one of the best things to have happened to me, lol

                      Thanks again, btw!

                        My pleasure.

                        Just...

                        It worked for me
I have now seen it work for SO many others now
It really is easy once you figure it out for what it is.

So why wouldn't I make sure to be the broken record when it just helps so many people out so much.

I always thought a Thunder Frosted ES Portion and a "trip down south of the border" would be a treat.
