Hi! And welcome luv! I'm sure that all of these nice folks might have mentionedit aswell, but considering that I'm reading this on a damn crackberry I must repeat if already spoken of. "If you slip, it is ok"and do you know why? BECAUSE Sage told me so!!! I have and have stopped immediately thereafter. Also a menthol smoker and although at first I went for menthol snus (thunder frosted, general wintergreen, mini mint, emerald ice, CATCH eucalyptus), I love the regular stuff so much more. Every once in a while ill switch to a flavor, like when I want something sweet, but mostly regular. It is awesome. Good luck and please keep us posted. 'Til then...xoxo

need some feedback, im new also

          1. i am a grizzly wintergreen long cut user
          2. i bought mostly loose, odens loose,Probe Whiskey loose etc..
          3. i used the pris tool, worked fine
          4. now that its in am i not supposed to move it around like do the usa long cut? when i did, it get a mouthfull of bits everywhere and a muddy paste smear all over. plus theres almost nothing left in my mouth after a few minutes. also, i get a throat/heartburn effect from swallowing.
          5. with usa long cut i can drink beer and not get a single bit in an unwanted area and not lose any either, but snus becomes like wet mud that is uncontrollable.
          6. is this normal? is that just what snus is? my mouth/teeth look like i ate chocolate pudding or took a spoon of wet earthy mud.
          7. i know the pouches would stay together and can move it around but its just not my style and you get much less for your $.

          any help? thanks

*i also tried Offroad, Wintergreen Long Cut which sucked but at least i could move it around and not swallow it all after a few minutes.

            Welcome to SnusOn Berlin!

Are you putting it in your upper lip? Lower lipping snus makes a big mess, at least for me. If you are upper lipping it, it just takes time to learn to control the snus. It can be a bit delicate at first, but once you're used to it, you can move it around. Not to the same degree as long cut dip, but I can switch sides in my mouth without making a mess.

            Edit:
and don't forget to read Snusdog's famous guide for dippers. He has much more dip experience than me, and there's a lot of good info in that thread...

berlinbilly: fear not, with a little more practice the snus will stay together and youl really begin to enjoy the many differences from dip, but most importantly, once you get the hang of it you will hopefully agree that lossnus and beer (or any beverage) get along famously. When I first started people would say that drinking beer with los is not a good idea, but after a coupls weeks maybe I was relieved to discover that such statments were utter nonsense. Welcome to the forum and to snus and don't hesitate with any questions.

Jaypow I hope you put a little variety in your order. Four 10 can rolls is an awful big bunch for a new snuser. Lots of experimentation is a good idea at first because most snusers find their tastes rapidly evolving in the first few months. If one of the types you bought really tastes unpleasant to you just throw the rest in the freezer and revisit it in a month or three. Chances are the tastes you thought were on the grim side will seem much more approachable in a few weeks/months.

Meanwhile cruise the forum and the vendors and work up a shopping cart of differing types, a can or two each, so that when you're ready to try some of the wide variety available you'll just have to push the button. Keep in mind that most snus flavors were developed for the Swedish market and may seem a little odd or offputting at first. Keep at it and that will resolve itself. You've discovered the absolutely best way to quit smoking bar none.

Oh yeah until you get your order it might help if you pick up some Camel SNUS at the convenience store. Weak stuff and way too sweet, generally considered useless by most here, but it will get you in the groove of using portions. If Marlboro snus is available avoid it like the plague--stunningly awful crap.

                  BB,

I dipped for over 20+ years but was never a big long cut fan. Thus I don't know if I will be able to help much on moving the pris around (never did it with dip don't do it with snus)

However, people do move them around quite a bit (I believe Texasmade is one. Maybe he will pop in and give you a hand).

There are two points that I can offer that may be of help.

First, a lot of the issue with moving a pris will depend on the tightness of the pris. You can get various degrees of tightness using a tool (prismaster or Icetool) depending on how firmly you compress the snus while it is in the tool. You might try really packing it down. That might help with the moving.

The second point has to do with both moving the pris and mudslides. You should have absolutly no problem eating, drinking, or really anything else with snus. It may take a bit of time to redirect beverage flow in the mouth but you should be an old pro before long. Now this brings me to the second point. It sounds to me like you may be trying to uses a dip sized pris and thus your pris is too big (at least for now).

Don’t load the prismaster to capacity. Instead, hold your thumb on the slide and keep the slide about 2/3 of the way down the tool, fill the prismaster no more than 1/3 full and really compress the tobacco (pressing the open end of the pmaster against the lid of the snus can while pressing down on the slide). The pris should be about 2/3 the size of a regular portion or even smaller.

90% of slides are caused by the pris being too big. Start small and work up.

Next if the placement is too far back in the mouth, you will generate too much saliva (and thus more slides). I put my pris about two teeth back from my two front teeth.

Also if you are not used to putting snus/dip in the upper lip area, it will take your lip a while to acclimate (this will also make you more prone to slides). However, once you lip is used to snus (about 2 weeks to a month depending on how often you use snus) things will get a whole lot easier

Thus, reduce size, firm up the pris, adjust your location more towards the front of the mouth, and give it time. It really will get easier.

In the meantime check out the Dipper’s guide. A lot of people have contributed a lot of good advice and insights. You may find it helpful.

Keep us posted and let us know if you are still running into problems.

thanks 2 whom replied. i saw the guide to snus. i got it all good now and used my brain. i wrote before playing/testing enough. but

is there anything like grizzly wintergreen though? all snus w.g. is plasticky/toothpaste type. offroad/thunder.... need bold/hearty/ style. i think u vikings like just plain peppery tobac, which is good but not my choice(yet) perhaps that probe whiskey los will be my top if no w.g. is out there, which looks that way.

go buy grizzly and tell me. it really has taken over usa and at the price its superseeds kodiak in cut/taste/$ which is both from conwood smokeless in kentucky. its so good, but its so good cuz theres many unknown addictive components which "they" keep secret.
but taste, o my odin god its good. go try and spit it all over.

i do need u guys to try it 4 feedback. i tried yours, now try our gem.

again, im going into los snus cuz its mucho healthier, thats why im transitioning over.

ok, gonna listen 2 thyrfing now lol seriously.

yo Northener.com, or any snus manufacturers, steal/ask for flavoring recipe(grizzly) and work together to make grizzly snus.

I just don't like wintergreen, but I do like that Grizzly 1900, Snuff, and Natural. Dip has a stronger flavor than snus. Maybe it's the pasturization process, but it's more muted, I think. I think this is what makes snus and aquired taste, and it's not fair really to compare them, because they are both what they are and different things. But I like both.
