HOLY MOLY!!!! This is kind of odd

Ok, so as I stated yesterday, tried the Nick and Johnny, and was pleased with it.... that was yesterday. Today, I get up, and have my morning coffee and grabbed another N&J.... and OMG! about KILLED me. About three times as strong, it seemed, burned the hell out of my throat, and actually made me a little naseous. Now, I have had this happen before, but it surprised me at the drastic change. Usually this is the way a brand is from the get go... any ideas? I think it may be me, and not the snus, but wow. It's been about 4 hours, and still haven't used any more snus at all. lol Maybe I'm just a wuss.

Too strong. I can't use strong snus in the morning, or late at night. I feel the effects much more at those times.

N&J is pretty strong even among starks. The nic hits hard and fast, at least in my experience. It may just not be what you need first thing in the morning. Had you been snusing already yesterday when you tried the first portion?
If you already have nicotine in your blood than the snus won't hit quite as hard.

Caffeine, for me, seems to increase the effects of nicotine. I can't do strong snus in the morning with coffee or it leaves me feeling less than productive.

Actually, the same happened to me on the first few days of using snus.

I got up one morning, made coffee and popped in a General OP...POW. It hit me that same way you described. Then, I started using General White portions for a few days upon waking and I did much better with that. I slowly got used to using the OP in the mornings. I never had N&J, but what I heard, it's stronger than General's OP.

I still can't and WILL NOT use starks in the morning. That will put me right back in bed, or worse, to the can.

I don't care how much you smoke or use to smoke, the nicotine in snus is a whole new ballgame. Don't underestimate it.

Wow, can't say i've ever had that happen. Recently i've been having a full prismaster of Gen ES los first thing with my coffee with no problems at all. When i'm at work i only use regular portions or los. But i will dive into the stronger snus once i crack that first beer of the night at home.
I did just get a can of N&J in a trade. Haven't opened it yet, have too many cans open right now so need to finish some up. Won't be my first can of N&J, had one last Sept and wasn't overly impressed but i am looking forward to the revisit.

EDIT .... just noticed this is in the newbie forum. I would definitely recommend caution when starting out.

I don't find N&J's very strong at all. In fact the only sterk I feel is actually strong is the thunder line of snus. Even Odens doesn't seem to strong for me, but I may be mistaken.

I get the same thing as the OP, but it depends imo on the PH level of your mouth at the time. Sometimes I will throw in a Thunder Frosted and it'll be fine. Then i'll throw another in, from the same can and of the same moisture level, and it will drip like crazy and choke me out/ make me nauseous. My theory is that it has to do with the current PH level of your mouth, which may be affected by foods or liquids consumed, but that's just a theory and seems to be my experience.

The only sterk I've had so far is 02, and I like that big nic hit first thing in the morning. But the nicotine in 02 doesn't seem to hit me right up front, only the peppery flavor. O2 has a big dose of nicotine, but it seems to be released gradually. Maybe you just have to be a bit more careful about what brand of sterk you use with morning coffee.

you know, that seems about right... I have been back on the snus for a week or so, and have noticed that I've had trouble sleeping.... so I pulled way back on the snus last night aafter work, so probablly had pretty low levels of nic in the blood. Now that I think about it, kinda feels like a "duh" moment. I should have remembered that, and taken a oomph citrus instead. oh well. live and learn. thanks for all the great replies, though

For me, morning and sterks just don't go together. My throat gets mad irritated for some reason if I pop a Thunder first thing. Dont have any adverse nicotine experiences, just the irritation.

Heh, I can relate, only different scenario. I seem to do fine with the General Extra Sterk first thing in the morning, but I had one right after lunch the other day and whoah! I think whatever I ate just really had my saliva working extra hard and then when I popped in that portion it attacked it like it was trying to digest the whole thing. I barely made it back to my cube before having to spit it out.

So yeah, just need to adjust to your particular chemistry I guess.
