For what it's worth Hegel I've found that Skruf Stark and Extra-Stark are very flavorful with their hints of rose oil, and plenty strong of course, but for some strange reason Skruf Original Portion seems unbearably bitter and unpleasant--totally different from its stronger brothers. You may or may not have the same reaction but I wouldn't be surprised if you did.

You are going to really enjoy Grovsnus Black, Strong Portion ..I've only been snusin for a month and a half or so and the Grov is by far my favorite along with Thunder Frosted. You may want to look into smoking pipe or good cigars (not philies or any other trash sold in gas stations)Just an idea as far as connoisseurship goes.I sure do like sitting back with a Rocky Patel or a Gurkha.

Hey thanks for the input about the cigars. I actually tried a few before I started snusing. I smoked a Camacho Connecticut, a Kristoff Maduro, a CAO Criollo, and a few Nubs before I decided that cigar smoking really wasn't for me. I guess I was just put off by how it took so long for the cigars to actually start tasting good. Its like you smoke it for 20 or 30 minutes and then it starts tasting good, but by then I'm pretty much done smoking. The other part that bothered me was the price. Five to 10 bucks a smoke is a little steep for my tastes. But I can definitely say I can sit down a smoke a cigar with someone in the future if the business world demands it. I should probably learn to play golf too....

Its funny you mention the Grov Black. That's actually the one snus out of my order I'm most excited to try. I debated between it and Onyx for a long time but I hear so many good things about Grov I just had to give it a try. I must say the Ettan has really grown on me. Definitely going to try Ettan OP next time around.

Does anyone actually advise airing out your cans for a while? Seems like the Ettan lost some pungency and I like it better now.

Got my order yesterday. Everything was included except the Skruff ES. In lieu of that I received a can of Onico OP. I'll give it a shot but using nicotine free snus seems to me about as useful as taking a shower with your socks on

So far I've tried the General Mint and the Grov Black. First impression of the General Mint is a good one. Its definitely sweet and minty, the flavor lasts an hour+ and it has no strange smell or initial taste. I like it, but it probably won't be a daily snus for me as I don't really get any complex tobacco flavor from it even after an hour. This is a preliminary impression however, with only a few portions under my belt.

The Grov black is definitely tasty from the first minute. Its got a smooth richness that I really like, but it definitely doesn't have any of the Thunder style drip or slap in the face nic hit. I definitely like it and look forward to using it more. I'd say the Ettan has more flavor that lasts longer though, but that's my only straight tobacco comparison at this point.

I'm like a kid in a candy store with all this new snus. Next up: Jakobbsen's Ice Fruit. Have a great day!

You will enjoy Lab Series 02 a lot. The portions are thin like Camel Snus and the flavor is mild with hints of herbs and nuts. 02 doesn't drip much either.

I'll second snusjus's recommendation of 02. Mellow, complex flavor, generous nic hit. The first snus I liked well enough to buy an entire roll of.

its like when you start drinking...you go with the sweet stuff first and end up drinking moonshine and hooowling at the moon for more.....!

I never could get around those heavy sweet snus....the most "sweet" snus i can go with today is Gøteborg N02 (and only a can now and then)

must get that Baccy taste or maby General and Skruf - still think, they taste more of baccy then of Bergamot...but they are ok......Ettan/Grov - and RIP: Diplomat (i do miss that one!!!!!!)

I think there's room for both flavored and "straight tobacco" snuses in a rotation, although drawing from my experience as a pipe smoker, I agree that one does tend to move away from the more heavily flavored tobaccos over time. I still enjoy some aromatic (i.e., flavored) pipe blends now and then, even though I mostly smoke blends with no added flavorings now.

Hegel I've found that one of the best uses for General Mint is for handing out portions for non-snusers to have a go. It's flavor is entirely familiar to American palates and the 8mg nic hit is adequate to get the point across. I adore Grov Black for instance but would never hand one of those out to a potential convert.

Darwin, if you're having trouble getting rid of that General Mint, you can always send some my way.

I haven't tried the 02 yet. I'm going to work on that can of Grov Black for a while when I'm in the mood for a "less flavored" snus.

Went for a drive after work today and popped in a Jakkobsen's Icefruit. All I can say is wow! I can definitely see this being an everyday snus for me. I really like the way the sweetness and fruitiness are subtle and you can still taste a little tobaccoey goodness underneath. I'd describe the flavor as a little peachy, a little minty and a overall pretty subtle as far as a flavored snus goes. The thing I liked most about it though is that the flavor didn't seem to change much throughout the ~2hrs I had it in. It was comfortable in my lip and I really enjoyed it. I've heard that its a love it or hate it snus. Guess I'm in the "love it" group
