    Hello All!

I'm pretty new to snus, and I have been reading deep into the forum for the last few days. Nice place you have here. Ive learned alot already, and alot of questions have been answered. I have only tried dip about 5 times in my lifetime.

So I'll tell you my story so far....

I've smoked a pack of Marlboro Menthol Lights a day for about 13 years. I've tried the patch with no success, and with my asthma is getting worse as I get older (I'm 35). I was very interested in snus when I first heard about it. My 1st experience was Marlboro snus. I was getting free coupons on my packs of smokes. I tried them and liked them. Sweet and tasty, but they didnt give me any nic feeling at all. So basically i was smoking just as much, and doing a few of those a day too. Tried the camel mellow and frost also.. I didnt like them. They tasted like chemicals to me.
Because of the weird taste of the camels, I started googling about snus, and I placed a small order of swedish snus. My first order was.....
    1 General Original
    1 General White
    1 Ettan White
At first, they all smelled and looked weird. Smelled like nothing I have ever smelled before. Not a bad smell, but different. I tried the General White first because of the clean look. As soon as I popped into my mouth, I liked it. Not sure why but I lower lipped it. It just feels more comfortable to me. My first taste of Swedish snus was very pleasant, and I proceeded to try the other 2 in the next few days. The General Original was good but wetter. I found it to be great for my morning shower when spitting isnt a prob. The Ettan was ok, but a little to plain tasting for me. After the first 3 cans, I was down to about 10 smokes a day, and about 6 snusses (Is snusses a word?).
Then my second order was all about trying diff flavors. It involved..
    1 Roda Lackett White
    1 Catch White Eucalyptus
    1 Offroad Mandarin
    1 Chaini Khaini Spices
    1 Chaini Khaini Mango
This order messed with my head. I think the only 2 cans out of this order that I will end up finishing are the Roda Lackett and the Catch White Eucalyptus. Both are good, but I was craving the taste of the Generals from my first order. The Offroad is pretty nasty. Starts off good but has a funny taste after a few minutes. The 2 Indian ones taste good, but I could not do them on a regular basis.. might keep them around for a once in a while type deal. Good thing is I'm down to about 5-7 smokes a day.
And lastly, I received my 3rd order yesterday. I'm soooo happy with this one.
    2 General White
    1 General Onyx
    1 General Los
Sooooo happy to put a General White in my mouth. I didnt order alot, because I wanted to confirm that I enjoyed the taste. I will be ordering a roll next week.
I ordered the Onyx to see what all the hype was about. All I can say is WOW!. I waited till after dinner, and popped one in. It was strong and tasty. It felt like the Onyx punched me in the mouth, and it was awesome! The nic hit was perfectly STRONG. I didnt need another snus or smoke, for the rest of the night. I only burned 4 smokes yesterday! I am saving the Los, to try with some freinds of mine that dip.
My next order will be a roll of General White, a few cans of General Original and Onyx, and then a few other new ones. Roda Lackett and Catch Eucalyptus might make it into a rotation type thing, but not sure yet.
Anyone have any suggestions based on my taste so far? Looking forward to quitting the smokes entirely, and enjoying a few snusses a day .

Welcome to SnusOn! Sounds like you're getting along with snus pretty well. Try them all if you can because it's fun. Otherwise I would suggest Ettan and Grov because they are almost as popular as General.

Oops you tried Ettan already. FYI: the loose versions of brands don't taste like the portions so you got to try them before you judge.

      Welcome to SnusOn!

I don't have much in the way of suggestions. I'm not a fan of Offroad portions, but I like the lös a lot. That seems to be a love/hate kind of snus. You might want to try Grov. That's similar to Ettan, but with a bolder flavor. Don't discount anything you try just yet. You may come around to them as your taste matures. Throw them in the freezer and revisit them later. I'm sure you know this, but you don't /have/ to spit with snus. If you want to, that's cool, but it won't make your stomach churn the way American dip will. It's designed to be spit free.

Welcome! Another newbie here. Best advice I can give is to try a lot of different brands. Some you'll love, some you'll hate, but that's part of the fun of discovery.

I highly recommend you add your name to the list for Noob Box Pass III. It's a great way to sample a lot of new snuses for free. You can find out more in this thread: http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...b-Box-Pass-III

Welcome aboard! I have been free of marlboro menthol lights for a couple of weeks now and don't desire to have one, so another testimonial i suppose. Like your choices, and I know general white portion mint is one of my favorites after I initially liked catch euc, so I'd suggest you give that a go sometime too.

Hello, welcome, and good for you for using snus to get off the cig monkeymachine. It worked for me, and it's worked for many other people.

You like bergamot snus! I like General a lot, myself. Try Gotlandssnus Original (yellow, gul), LD (I really like the OPs but the whites are good too), Granit, maybe Gustavus. And, of course, snus lots of General :O) As you're probably aware, your tastes will change, and you will become more and more acquainted with what I shall call the True Nature of Snus. It seems to be more of a path than a destination, which I find very cool.

Welcome and DON'T give up on any particular snus as of yet. Just throw it in the freezer for a couple months. Your tastes will be changing and developing daily for the next year or more.

                    Thanks for the warm welcome.
                    I've taken a turn....
General Los is Badass! I tried it on Sunday. I viewed the hand baking vid, and baked a much smaller version. Flavor and feel were much more enjoyable than the portion. Of course, I've had a few mishaps.... My 1st try, it lasted about 10 minutes before it slid. 2nd time, it lasted about 10 seconds! Tried a few diff sizes of it, and have found that ( as I read someone else refer too) the size of a pencil eraser... maybe slightly bigger, works the best for me right now. If I'm just chilling at home... they are lasting about 45 minutes. Whats the proper term for the baked good? I've seen both pris and prilla... not sure what they mean exactly..

I've also placed my next order. I was going to get a roll of General Whites but after tasting the Los, I decided to hold back and try a few more things this time around.
                    Heres the order....
                    2 x General Portion Snus
2 x General White Portion Snus
1 x Probe Whiskey Portion Snus
1 x Gotlandssnus Gray (Gråsnus) Portion Snus
1 x Skruf Original White Portion Snus
                    1 x General Loose Snus
1 x General Ekstra Sterk Loose
1 x Göteborgs Rapé Loose Snus
1 x Thunder Frosted ES Loose Snus
                    1 x Prismaster

This order has me a little scared, but excited also.. I'm most looking forward to trying the Probe Whiskey Portion, and the Goteborgs Rape and Thunder Frosted Loose.

The Prismaster is a clue that tool made pinches are usually but not always called a pris and and a handbaked pinch is usually referred to as a prilla. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule about this though. Oh yeah on your next order don't forget the big dogs of loose snus--Ettan and Grov. Also the prismaster may well make too large a hunk for comfort as many on here have testified. Cheapest solution is a 3ml syringe with the end cut off and a safety pin stuck through the plunger body to make it stop even with the end of the barrel. Works great, allows you to see and repeat pris sizes accurately, and at about 30 cents a pop, if you can't get them free, is vastly cheaper than the ultra-slick IceTool.
