Hi, all. I'm new to this board, but I've been snusing for over three years now. But much of that time I was primarily using Camel Snus, so some may think that doesn't really count. As of the past several months though, I primarily use General--usually Original Portion, occasionally White Portion or Mint for variety.
I'm a longtime habitual pipesmoker, and I have used snus to greatly reduce the amount I smoke and to increase my overall enjoyment of life in places where I can't smoke. I had gotten to where I was smoking much more than I thought was wise--nearly constantly when at home, always when driving (even short distances), and stepping out for several smokes during the work day--when I first learned about Camel Snus, which was being test marketed in my city.
I have a sweet tooth and was enjoying Camel's (oddly named since it was introduced along with 2 other flavors) "Original" and Spice flavors. I got curious and ordered a sampler box of genuine Swedish snusses (is that the correct plural?). At first it was a shock after the Camel--when I popped in my first pouch of General I was like what's with this salty/peppery thing? And where's the sweetness? For a couple weeks, I used some of the different Swedish snusses for variety, but then stuck them in the freezer and stayed with the Camel. But then Camel dropped my favorite Original and Spice flavors, leaving me limping along with the replacement "Mellow" flavor (and mellow is an understatement). I never cared much for Frost--when I use tobacco I don't really want it to taste like a breath mint--but I used it occasionally for variety and to freshen my breath. Then one day I got the General out of the freezer and gave it another try. Somewhat to my surprise, I was enjoying it much more than I did at first, and I also learned that I enjoyed the Ettan, Tre Ankare, and Grovsnus I had in there. And my local tobacconist started selling General, so it's easy for me to get.
So now I'm a confirmed Swedish snus snuser, and I'm really glad to see it getting more prominent here in the U.S. Anyway, sorry for the long introductory post. I'll keep it shorter from here on out!
