I put my snus just at my left canine but I shave it way up in my lip so it is along the gum line, directly on my gums. It tends to have more flavor than when it put it there and tends to have more "juice" when I do that as well. It's jsut not comfortable for me to have it any other places but right at or a tad bit behind my left canine. I can tolerate it a tad bit further up, like right behind my third incisor but can not go any further than that. I've heard some people say "put it below the gumline" and I could never do that because portions on my teeth irritate me. Sorry for sounding like such a noob, only been 4 weeks into snusing (got away from dip because of the rising cost and the fact that I can't do it everywhere due to social and visibility issues) and I'm so used to dip, so I think dip when I put a portion in which means I put it to the side, on my gumline, and make sure it isn't on my teeth like I would with long cut. Am I doing anything wrong?

When I first started, I didn't like to put a portion anywhere other than my upper right.
Now, I hardly ever use anything other than my upper left.
Just put it wherever it's most comfortable for you, and keep snus'ing.
