    Snus Noob in B.c. Canada

hello all , just got all my snus that I ordered in , yesterday I got half of my order from Buysuns as I ordered the mix (portion) pack , I ended up getting - Skruf tranbar , Thunder frosted long , goteburg rape #2 , Roda lacket ,Thunder berry . Got dinged $41.38 duty on this package ,

today I got the other half of the order - LD , Chaini khaini mango , goteborg rape , general mint , lucky strike bold ,romeo y julieta and order from Northerner - thunder frosted ES , 2 thunder berry ES , Skruf stark , General white

so I paid $41.83 duty on the first 5 cans , and the next 2 packages of 11 cans were duty free not to bad at all now I just have to try them all

is it best not to open all the cans I want to try , should I store them in the fridge or the freezer ??
as of now they are in the fridge

I have had the thunder berry before which was my first exposure to swedish snus and I had to get more , out of the new stuff I got I opened the Roda Lacket which I like , the thunder frosted long which was just ok , so what should I crack open next ??

    , Tommy

Welcome to SnusOn! Open as many as you want. The funnest part is trying them all out. I keep opened cans in the fridge for months sometimes and keep my sealed ones in the freezer for over a year without any problems. I'd crack the Lucky Strike Bold next but that's just because I wish I could get it in the USA. Enjoy all your snus! Oh yeah, if you don't like something at first, put it back in the fridge or freezer and try it again in a couple weeks. Your tastes will change alot!

Welcome to the forums, as others said it doesn't matter how many you open as long as their are stored properly. I only open one of each can I have, and keep them all in the fridge. Store all unopened cans in ziplock bag within your freezer. I use bags that are made for the freezer and are supposed to prevent freezer burn.

Welcome to Snuson. Enjoy your great new stash.

I won't echo what Snuffy and Stond have said, but I do agree with them both.

I didn't think you were supposed to be liable for any extra duties through BuySnus. Isn't that why their UPS rates are higher? Anybody know?

And I thought we had it bad in the states. Maybe you should check out the tobacco exchange here on snuson, have used it myself always with good results, and have gotten some very good deals from fellow members! (thx guys)

Welcome to snuson tommy, Nice variety you got there... Thunder berry I like also, But only maybe 2 times a day... One of my favorites is Goteborgs Rape #2 the flavor last a long time...

I would say open them all if you like... Hell i had like 17 cans open at one time when I first got mine and damn!!! I still do, I just couldn't wait and like variety every day... Just freeze the ones you may not care for and keep the rest in the fridge... I have about 9 different open frozen cans I need to re-visit in the future, Have fun and enjoy them.....

I don't want to get fellow Canadians hopes too high but I didn't have to pay any tax on my last 5 "soon to expire snus" orders from the Northerner. 4 orders were for 5 cans and one for 10, the packages were all white with some text in Swedish and a small "Snus" handwritten on it. Could it be a cheap way to get our Snus in Canada or it is just that the regulars at the customs are on vacation? Anyway, I believe that the packaging has a lot to do with it.

For the record I loaded up on Gotlandssnus Yellow (My favorite loose), Jackosson's Classic portions (Discovered with this deal and really liked it so I bought 2 rolls), tried some Olde Viking Lime and Ginger (Ewwww, they're back in the freezer and will use for an emergency)

I got 2 of those white flat cardboard packages in the last 2 weeks from Northerner's SnusBargain, 10 cans each. One cost $80 in taxes, the other was duty free. I'm in Alberta.

Man that's a lot of taxes! I thought we had it bad but you guys in Canada and Europe have it worse.

Ouch...80$, at least you got one untaxed.

After I posted this and after 5 tax free orders, I got a 34$ bill for my last 5 cans. I'm still waiting for a last 5 cans. Maybe I was just lucky, after all, I got hit on 5 out of 6 packages before that. By the way, Emma from the Northerner told me that they use the same packaging for fresh Snus if someone is interested to know.
