i use mostly loose but throw a few portions in there too from time to time. At first i started using loose because it was cheaper and it keeps better during shipping in the hot months down here. Now loose is the way to go for me. mostly i only get the floaters if i leave it in too long which i do most of the time haha. It don't bother me and by nature i am pretty picky person, aka mr. monk
Loose vs portions

I have just started making the switch to Los. I primarily hand bake as after trying with a ghetto ice tool I just felt hand baking lead to a better prilla and was part of the zen of the experience. Los lasts in the mouth longer, better overall flavor, better value, just better everything but convenience. But for home and work (I have a desk job) it works great. So I have to step into the bathroom for removal but that is no big deal considering I don't step outside for smoke breaks anymore. Now I mention the convenience factor. I do have portions still. I reserve them for gigs and a full day motorcycle riding with the club. Gigs though I tend to bum one cigarette during the night though. Or use snuff, I don't like singing with a prilla or portion in and can't imagine playing harmonica with one in.

Originally posted by lxskllrEveryone should try lös at least once, whether they want to or not :^D It's the traditional way of using snus, and should be tried for the experience if nothing else. Grov lös is very similar to the portions, and it should be a good introduction for someone new to lös snus.
I use portions in public and los, longcut on my island.

I'll keep that in mind if/when the day comes.
I am leery of menthol, though, after experiencing menthol overdose
a few years ago; like having multiple bouts of flu all at the same time.
Of course, large quantities were consumed --- Hall's lozenges eaten
like candy, menthol cigarettes, mentholated ointments and salves made
the problem worse, but I didn't know better. Finally went away after I
quit medicating myself. I don't think I'd have the same problem with
snus or snuff.
