This shipment is never leaving the ground .... literally!!
Traveling by truck, and if UPS says "scheduled arrival date is the 27"
you won't get it before then. I've never heard of them delivering
before the scheduled date.

Exactly... Which makes no sense because everyone is getting their snus from buysnus in sweden in 3 days regardless or location.

Customs must not be looking at packages from Sweden at all. Not a big source of smuggled contraband I'm thinking so they likely focus their efforts elsewhere. In the great scheme of things all the snus ordered from overseas times ten is a tiny drop in the import ocean. I'm betting if packages from Sweden are examined at all it's by automated equipment designed to detect radiation or explosives or the like.
I recently made a small order, with fingers crossed, from Getsnus on a Sunday and it was delivered on Thursday--exactly the same performance as before the PACT nightmare.

Was this by UPS or USPS? I believe most of the other vendors from there use USPS.
I'd like me some of that 'Shipped from Sweden Only' snus!!

I may be mistaken but I thought I recently saw mentions right here on SNUSON of people getting recent shipments from overseas through USPS (but that might be just hopeful wishing on my part).
I figured by phrasing my question as I did someone might come out of hiding and 'fess up!!
There was talk, I remember (but can't remember which thread) about some international treaty having to do with Royal Mail (UK) and other countries who are party to the treaty who couldn't be denied dealing with USPS.

Yes UPS ground shipments cross countrty are 5 working days, which turns out ot be 7 calendar days, always has been.
You can thank Uncle Sam for removing the USPS option that enabled the 2-3 day air service. When postal rates get increased next year because of the decline in USPS revenue, you can thank them again.

Originally posted by Toque Snuff View PostMy fault it was called the Berne Agreement in the UK and attributed to Sir Rowland Hill in 1874. It changed to the 'Universal Postal Union' which most Countries have signed.
On 9 October 1874 (a day now celebrated throughout the world as World Post Day) the Treaty of Bern, establishing the General Postal Union, was signed. Membership in the Union grew so quickly during the following three years that its name was changed to the Universal Postal Union in 1878.
The 1874 Treaty of Bern succeeded in unifying a confusing international maze of postal services and regulations into a single postal territory for the reciprocal exchange of mail unhindered by single country regulations. The barriers and frontiers that had impeded the free flow and growth of international mail had finally been pulled down. The US ban on the mailing of tobacco is only legal within the US and cannot restrict international mail.
These days we can no longer assume what carrier is involved. I've talked to a few postal clerks and carriers; as far as they're concerned, if a package makes it through customs unscathed, and there are no notices affixed otherwise, they'll make delivery without question.
As for me, I believe I'll stick with getsnus for now and save myself all the aggravations the ****in' PACTCRAP Act has fostered.
And I think I'll take advantage of Toque's "Sample Selection 10 for the price of 9. Free Worldwide Shipping." For ~$20, it's a cheap enough way to test the waters snuff-wise and shipping-wise.
Now I've just gotta figure out what flavors I might like.
