    Kapten Los

I can't really tell if I like Kapten Los yet or not. It is definitely plain. Not a lot of smoke flavoring if any and not a lot of salt. There is a slightly bitter bite to it that kind of reminds me of a very mild juniper berry. Definitely not bergamot. The tobacco flavor is more pronounced than anything else. It kind of reminds me of smoking a Benson and Hedges cigarette. I want to like it and everything I like is there but it is not quite right for some reason. It makes me long for the return of Pioneer. Maybe I can give a better assessment after trying it for a few days. The one thing I am not liking right now is the 37 gram can.

OK now for my long term review. Kapten is not bad. The can smells a bit like Raid when you open it but the taste is quite smooth and I can easily use this snus all day. The nic hit seems normal. The nice thing about this snus is the grind. It is very soft but it stays in place. There are other brands such as Ettan and Granit I would order first but I will gladly by Kapten when it is on sale. I would give Kapten a 7 out of 10. Slightly better than average overall.

Northerner has it. I ended up getting it when I got some expired los for $1 a can.

It's a little spendy for a 37g tin. It costs more than Swedish Match. If you're gonna charge more than the market leader, you better have the chops to back it up.

Your flavor description reminds me of Phantom brown. Is it close to that?

I have never tried Phantom Brown. It sounds scary! I think Chad nailed Kapten when he compared it to Gustavus on his blog. A very muted Gustavus in a small can. I do agree that the 37 gram can sucks especially since they want about $5 a tin for this stuff. Still, its a pretty decent snus. I always though Gustavus was a bit overwhelming.

The expired los is worth a shot. The only downfall is getting some Offroad Los. On a scale of 1 to 10, Offroad Los is a -10.

It's a hell of a deal, but there's a lot of stark lössnus on the market, and I'd be afraid of getting a roll of Thunder or something like that. I can deal with one suboptimal condition on a very cheap snus, but not two or greater. IOW, General extra sterk would be fine, and Offroad would be fine, but Thunder is definitely not fine. Might be worth a gamble as an addon to a regular order though.

It is quite a bit higher than SM. I didn’t notice that when I posted the link. Getting the calculator out, I see that Kapten is 38% more expensive per gram than Grov or General.

Lxs - if you ever make a snus, I will buy cases of it! I know it will be done right.
