For info on the branding of this snus and where it may or may not come from - read my review of the Plain tobacco flavoured version of this
Telemark Xtra Fresh is a minty snus as you would probably expect from the name and it shares the plain/budget label design of it's red non-minty cousin.
I've said that this is minty ... and on opening the can you get a nose-full of an extremely aggressive peppermint from the 20 original portions you see. The wetness of the portions is very normal unlike the drier plain Telemark in the red can.
The taste is something of a battering ram ... there is absolutely no chance of detecting that any tobacco exists in this product at all such is the assault of massively overdone peppermint. Seriously - this snus makes Thunder Frosted look like an absolute pussycat! The menthol has my fairly experienced inner lip stinging with cooling sensation and if my tongue goes there to give my poor lip a rest by moving the portion about it is immediately stung with a cloying saccharine sweetness (not surprising as one of the listed ingredients is E954 = saccharine!)
So what do I make of this snus? Frankly I can't keep it in long enough to even work out approximately how strong it is supposed to be (there is no strength info on either Northerner's site or the can) - I just want to spit it out to get rid of the horrible lip sting and sweetness. I like a strong peppermint from time to time - as in a peppermint sweet/candy. But you can swallow that when you've had enough. Safe to say I pretty much hate this one!
But if you like a snus that makes you feel like you've smeared the inside of your mouth with Vicks vapour rub mixed with crushed up coffee sweeteners from the 1970s then you're in luck ... this is the snus you've been waiting for
