Taboca provides a new experience for the independent snus consumer, bringing the finest hand-selected tobaccos together with modern Swedish snus-making principles.
Blended using only the purest Norwegian spring water for a distinctive fresh taste, Taboca embodies the conscious desire to be individual, to make your own statement and to show your appreciation for the finer things in life.
Bold, distinctive packaging promises standout from older, traditional brands giving younger snus consumers the means to discover their own independence.
This is a brand that makes me do anything else but to play with the portion or to squeeze it with my tongue, simply because it produces a taste that resembles the smell of cheap Eau de Cologne nearly 100 percent.
The dominating taste is that of bergamot, without any noticeable other nuances. The tobacco-taste is almost fully masked.
This brand is worth a try for every bergamot lover. The somewhat one-dimesional taste is not disgusting, but for me, personally, also not interesting. One (free) can was enough.
Cheers!

Taboca Portion
I used to run the Scandinavian commercial wing of Taboca, and, yes, we also had a laugh over what the founders had written on the website to describe the product.
In reality, we decided to make it a price/value product after that flowery description was published. Originally, it would have been a premium snus with Cuban tobacco, just like R&J and MC.
It is a simple bergamot product, and the other resident flavor is fig. It has its followers, mostly those who are over-saturated with the 'bergamot/citrus' domination of the market, but are happy enough just to lose the citrus. The snus tobacco is the same as in the Cuban brands, with the absence of the Cuban cigar tobacco.
Today, in Sweden, it outsells the Cubans 4-to-1 in the sales mix.

I, personally, love Taboca. It has a rich, deep flavor, smooth and slightly sweet in a very natural, non-annoying way; certainly I can taste the fig beyond the bergamot, but it doesn't hit me over the head and say "fig". I like that. I love this snus: the lös, the portions, and even the strong minis. I love the cans. I lol at the product description (which I've seen before), but it's not like I care once I have Taboca in my mouth. I would probably take this if their literature said, "if you use our snus, you're a moron," because it tastes good. One of my current favorites.
Edit: Since I noticed this thread is specifically for the portions, let me add this: The portions in the can I have mostly devoured are, to my eye, of above-average quality. (I must confess I did not count them.) They are even and soft, with the snus well-placed and not clumped or packed to one side as I see with some brands. The portions seem to be very consistent in the amount of snus each contains. They resemble tiny pillows; in fact, they look a lot like some Gotlands portions I broke out to compare. They are not at all damp or blotched like some other (even very good) portions. The portion material is soft, almost fuzzy, but in a comfortable way, not a random, irritating fashion. While I don't find the portions quite as luscious as the lös, the flavor is still scrumptious, with a hint of natural sweetness, yet at the same time faintly, tastefully bitter. I like it more and more. In my opinion, this is a snus that is definitely worth a try. And did I mention that the metal cans are very cool?
Edit deux: It might be fair to point out that aj01's feedback below came before my initial addition above.

No one currently in Taboca even remembers that old description. Yours is exactly spot-on to what the "snus sommelier," Ingvar Tillman, intended.

There are horrible snuses. There are OK snuses. And there's great snuses. Upon my first try of Taboca Original I realized I had found another one of those snuses that you wish you'd ordered more of for the rotation. Plain, deep blue metal tin - I always give a bonus for metal tins, they stay colder out of the fridge longer. Plus, they're damn cool.
The flavor is tangy and slightly fruity-sweet - it really does taste like figs and bergamot, so no false advertising here. Just the right amount of salt as well. The only downside is that it does go bitter after 45 min, which is way longer than you're supposed to have it in anyway. A great, flavorful snus. The nic kick is subtle and subdued, great for an in-between with stronger sterks. The portion material is soft and pillowy, and is comfortable on the gums. I could use these portions all day without getting burned out.
Packaging: 8/10
Flavor: 8/10
Portion material: 9/10
Nicotine: 6/10
Reusability: 9/10

Taboca Portion is a high-quality snus with a fairly low price tag. The metal can is modern, simple, and classy. Odors of bergamot and sweet fig waft from the opened can. Anyone who has tried a Gotlandssnus product will feel at home when sniffing the luscious, plump portions in the metal container. Initially, the flavor starts off bland until the bergamot and fig seep through portion, which takes about ten minutes. The two flavorants blend together nicely with a hint of salt in the background. Beginners and snotty snus connoisseurs will appreciate the complex aroma, balanced flavor, and near-perfect portion material of Taboca.

It's a well-made snus, but not great, IMO. The bergamot/fig combo is nice, but it doesn't "wow" me. I suspect I'm noticing the absence of the cigar leaf more than anything else. To draw an analogy -- the curtain is drawn, and the spotlights are shining, but there's no one on stage.
But I agree that the metal cans are very cool.

I wrote a post myself, but it pretty much repeated everything Mojo said, so READ IT AGAIN!

It is not going to blow your mind or anything, it is fairly simple, but that is the kind of snus I like day-to-day. There is just something about the quality tobacco, bergamot and FIG that tickles my taste buds the right way.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by Taboca. It always came up as an extra deal in my first snus orders and I was never interested. I ordered one can along with ten other miscellaneous flavors I'd been meaning to try.
I honestly can't believe this is an economy portion. The quality of the portions is top notch. Nice soft and pillowy texture, and the portions themselves are stuffed. (My usual go-to's of Skruf and N&J seem thin by comparison.) The taste is all bergamot, I don't get very much of the fig, but overall I think it has a very clean taste to it.
The can itself is classy. The metal definitely makes it stand out amongst other brands, and the lack of an ashtray compartment is not important. If there was a Sterk formula available, I'd be all over it. (This last order included a bunch of regular portions to try and curb my constant sterk intake.) For now I'll look forward to working my way through this stash and ordering a roll of it.
Overall, 9/10 from me. One point off for lack of a stronger portion.
Definitely a reorder for me.
EDIT:Anyone who has tried a Gotlandssnus product will feel at home when sniffing the luscious, plump portions in the metal container.

My first impression of Taboca was that it was bland. However I had run out of original portions and was using Mint and Wintergreen while I waited for my order to arrive so that was why it took a day to get used to them. I don't especially love the taste but the metal can (even though there is no catch lid) is nice and the flavor is far from bad just not exceptional. I will be ordering much more of this though since as was stated above you don't mess with the portions. I have a problem with leaving portions alone especially in public. I just can't stop messing with them usually and it looks strange to people. Taboca Has just the right portion size thicker than Nick and Johnny and Thinner than Jakobssons. Just right to be comfortable enough to leave the Hell alone.
