    Granit Stark

I'll admit, I don't have much experience with Granit. I've tried Granit Maxi in the past, but that's about it. So this review is kinda off the cuff and I can't really compare it to any Granit I've had before. Granit Stark is a new snus from F&L, and is an addition to the growing Granit product line - in the way that the Lucky Strike brand has been growing. Granit Stark is listed here as having a "High Level" of nicotine, though no exact content is listed. To me it feels like a normal stark, probably 13mg-14mg of nicotine. It does have a little kick, but not as strong as one from Thunder. The aroma of this snus is pretty interesting. Usually one comes through before the other in a tradition snus, citrus first or tobacco first, but in this one the aroma is pretty pleasantly mixed - strong tobacco and citrus aromas at the same time. The citrus is a tad more present, but they both come through in a pretty balanced fashion.

The portions are very moist and juicy, and very comfortable in the lip. They are a little flat in the can, so a little fluffing is required. The taste comes on pretty immediately, as does the nic hit. The tobacco comes through pretty strong, and a little citrus as well. This snus isn't extremely salty, and doesn't have the pepper taste that I'm used to with General snus, so it's pretty interesting. The tobacco flavor is the predominant flavor with the citrus being more of an afterthought, very mild and not something that stands out much. The taste can get slightly bitter after long period of use, but that's after about 45 minutes to an hour in. So not one I could leave in for long periods of time, but the initial flavor is very bold and the nicotine hit is pretty quick and strong. So Granit Stark is pretty good, pretty interesting. I'm going to have to check out some of the other Granit products just so I can compare.

Based on chadizzy's review, I ordered two rolls of Granit Stark. I was not disappointed. If you're looking for a high-quality snus at a lower-than-average price, look no further. Actually, it's pretty basic, but in a good way. The nicotine content is listed as 13 mg/portion on F&L's website, which is a near-ideal strength, in my view. It's a lot like general, but with less salt and pepper (a good thing, in my view). It also reminds me of Skruf Stark, but slightly milder and without the disgusting hints of rose oil. Let's just hope that this one is here to stay!

This stuff sounds awesome. I like a strong snus, prefer one actually. But I wanted to mix up my usual Nick and Johnny with a regular portion and Granit sounded good so I got 4 rolls of Granit OP. I'm halfway through the first roll and I like it but the portions seem to vary in taste and sometimes I get some that have a little too much salt and pepper for my taste. Still not as much as General OP, but still... I kinda hate pepper. If these are way toned down on that they should be delicious. Granit OP has a great tobacco base and the faint hints if citrus are REALLY good.

Oh yeah, just wanted to add that the Granit cans are great. High quality with the best airtight seal I've seen yet. And I like the catch lid alot too. Holds a bunch of spent portions.

Interesting to read about the nic content. I use starks exclusively and this one has been kicking my ass. It feels stronger than anything else to me, but I guess it isn't. Maybe it's the hangover talkin? I'm no good with reviews, and have nothing to compare it to really, but it is good.

Looks appetizing. Is it less bitter and caustic than GES Portions?

GES portions bitter and caustic? What? Bitter and caustic must be my bag then cause I think GES portions are the best tasting portions I've ever had. They go PERFECTLY with beer. And the los is even better. GES is the best recipe Swedish Match has ever cooked up but I am not a fan of the weird way the portions deliver nicotine. Fast and overly stout. Not a smooth kick at all. But the taste is perfect.

I used GES (portion and los) for quite some time. I loved the portions at first, but they turned on me. Perhaps it became stale due to storage? The los is godly; I prefer it over General Original Los.

Perhaps the taste changed in the freezer if they were months past the best by date. I'd say it's worth a revisit.
