It's been a while since I wrote about a new Skruf product. The last one I wrote about was the release of Skruf XTra Stark in February of 2010. Today I'm writing about three new products - Skruf Mellan (White Portion), Skruf Tranbar (White Portion), and Skruf Slim: Fresh (White Portion). Slim and fresh, sounds like me and my personality. Skruf is moving forward in a big way, not just with the release of these 3 new products, but they've launched a webstore of their own - SkrufStore.se, kind of like the Oden's/GN folks did - OdensSnus.com. So if you're in Sweden, check it out - because I think that's the only place they ship to anyway. Alright, so moving along, let's get into the reviews. I'm going to do all three in this one article.

This one kind of appeared out of nowhere, I was browsing BuySnus one day and there it was. The description read as follows, "Skruf Slim Fresh White Portion is a white portion snus with a fresh taste of spearmint. New slim fit portions that are different than the original Skruf portions. Optimized for better fit under the lip." To me - what was interesting about that is this is Skruf's first release of a mint snus, and their first release of a long portion. I was really excited to see not just how the Skruf folks handled the mint flavor, but also how they would do a long portion. It seems everyone's long portion is done a little differently and fits slightly different in the lip.


The portions are white portions, but are quite moist. I immediately thought of Catch Pure Mint, which is a long portion mint, but this one is a lot different. First, it's the regular amount of tobacco packaged in a long portion. After a little fluffing I noticed it seemed a little longer than other long portions I've had and has much more tobacco in it. It felt a lot like a prilla of los when I put it in the lip. Long, packed full, and great mouthfeel. The aroma is exceptionally good. It's a very fresh, clean aroma of spearmint. I found it hard to take my nose away from the can long enough to put one in my lip. Granted, I don't use mint snus all the time, but I usually keep some around because it's what I always use as soon as I'm done brushing my teeth. Although the portions are white, they release the flavor really quickly with a nice little tingle/burn, and feel almost as soft as original portions. They feel like 0102, but look like standard white portions, it's really interesting. The flavor is a great spearmint flavor, reminds me a lot of traditional Wrigley's Spearmint Gum. Really clean, fresh taste. I liked this one a lot.

I believe so, it feels as though it has the regular strength/tobacco content of a regular 8mg portion.

So if I am reading this right these are only available through a Swedish supplier and not a US warehouse (i.e. Northerner) due to the fact that Imperial did not "register" or whatever with the FDA, correct? Would love to add this to a future order since I have been looking for a real good spearmint. This may sway my whole premiumsnus versus snuson shop $$ conundrum considering the former carries it...hmmm

I like that they are doing a slim/long portion. I miss not being able to get SM longs in the UK any more. Shame it's a mint, as not to my taste, but hopefully it'll test well and they'll do more slim versions of their regular flavour.

Skruf Slim Fresh may possibly be the only Skruf portion product that I do not hate. It's slim and long and comfortable. The mint flavor is much more subtle then General mint and I did not detect sweetness nor saltiness, however these have more of a tingle feel. While the portions smell like spearmint, they taste more like a plain mint to me. The nic is definitely there...I have no idea of amount but I could feel it. I got that familiar queasy feeling from nic after having portion in mouth for appx 20 minutes. Some sucking and squeezing the portion between my lip quickly brought out the tobacco flavor..it's a good rich flavor. I'm not much of a reviewer but I can say whether I like something or not. I blindly ordered a roll of this and have no regrets. I'd like to think this was made just for me after years ago suggesting to Skruf to release a mini...hey, a girl can dream right?? Unfortunately, due to Skruf's status in the U.S, I think this could have been a contender for people seeking an alternative to American Camel minty snus or even General Mint.

I didn't even know these were supposed to be mint until I read these reviews. To me, they tasted more like a Eucalyptus portion. I did not taste much sweetness although the pouches do stick together a bit in the can. Maybe mine were dried out more than the ones others that have tried.

The portion itself was like a long+ style portion, but about 2/3 of the length. The tobacco is packed in tight; there isn't much room to actually 'fluff' these.

Good looking can, good flavor, and it's a discrete, white snus. I like it although I don't know how often I will order it.

I love this snus, the mint is very mild compared to General and it's discrete. As Chad said, it's pretty moist for a white snus, but it's been my daily snus for a long time and I never tire of it. Great, Great snus.
