This past week I decided it was time to venture back into the world of Bergamot. In my last article I wrote that I couldn't stand the stuff. But as I have noticed, tastes change, and I figured it was about time to give it a try again. My first snus on my "Adventure into Bergamot" is Skruf Stark (White Portion).
Usually, I don't make it a point to talk about the can. But Skruf makes one hell of a can. It's sleek, it's sexy, it's cool. Prior to trying Skruf Stark, I would rave about Offroad's portions as being the most comfortable. Now, after trying Skruf Stark, I'm going to say that these portions are just as, if not more comfortable than, my beloved Offroad. The portions feel almost silky against my gums. The snus is very soft, requires virtually no fluffing. The portions that come out of the can are just about perfect.
Now, as I said above, tastes change. I've noticed this in myself, as I've ventured away from my love of minis, and many other aspects of the snus I started with to the snus I use now. I can honestly say, this snus is pretty good.
Upon opening the can, I wasn't hit with the strong bergamot smell that I've noticed in most of the products that list bergamot as a key ingredient. Skruf Stark smells rather sweet, it has a quite pleasant aroma. The portion is strong (14mg Nicotine), and my usual Thunder Frosted has 16mg Nicotine, so this still packs quite a hit. I noticed it shortly after putting a portion in my mouth. The taste is very gentle, very mild. The bergamot is light, and is actually an enjoyable citrus taste. This product also contains Rose Oil as one of the key ingredients, which adds a light, flowery, herbal, sweet taste as well. These two flavors balance very well. The light citrus flavor of bergamot and the sweet, flowery taste of the Rose Oil mix quite well in the snus. This portion has virtually no drip, after an hour of having it in I never had it happen. But the flavor and the nicotine still come through in a major way. The taste is very smooth, mild, and perfectly balanced.
So as I begin venturing into the world of bergamot in the weeks to come, Skruf Stark was a great first stop. A mild flavor, a great nic hit, a cool can, and a pleasant aroma combine to make Skruf Stark a great snus, and one I can see myself ordering again.

Skruf Sterk White = fantastic portion snus.
Portion material - A+ Like butter in your mouth.
Taste - B+ Nice herbal quality, but gets a little bitter at the end.
I'm going to go off on a tangent about the nic. Yes, my beloved Vitamin N is available in spades with this snus. It's the strongest nic hit I've received from ANY snus I've tried, even Thunder. The nic wave hits you fast and strong, it was almost too much to tolerate on my first portion. It made my heart palpitate! However, once I was accustomed to it, it became my go-to snus first thing in the morning to kill off the sunrise nic hunger. A+++ in the nic department.

Besides my Thunder Frosted(everyone knows I am a TF wh*re) this is my second snus home. I have found that I flip flop between these two daily.
Skruf Stark White is a great white portion. The taste is that of rose oil, bergamot, and smoky tobacco. The rose oil takes the lead to me over the bergamot. It is slightly sweet, but not over powering. The nic is great too.

Well after snusing for 2+ months now, I am finally settling in on a rotation. I am using 3 kinds a day now.
Thunder Frost
Skruf Stark White
General Mint
One for each level of nic. I think I am good going forward with these 3 brands, and then for variety I have about 15 kinds of los at home.
But Skruf Stark White is my FAV of all the Skruf, even more than the new ES. For me, it stands out so much from the other Skruf products. Usually it seems the whites take away flavor, but with Skruf, it seems to actually bring the flavor out. I am very impressed, and its now in my regular rotation.

This might sound really weird, and I've only tried one portion of this so far (though I think another is going in soon) but I had posted in the skruf cranberry that I tasted a bit of banana flavor (which others had also mentioned) but then I also tasted that with the stark white portion? Is this a different flavor that I'm confusing? I have no idea what bergamot tastes like.
Besides that (well, really because of it, I think it's tastier than hell!) I absolutely loved this snus! I'm a converting Marlboro Lights (oh, sorry, GOLD PACK) smoker, so the nic hit actually gave me a decent buzzNot a full on head spinning nauseating kind, but a good, steady buzz. I see another order in my future with at least a roll of this (and the cranberry) thrown in.

SSW is the epitome of snus to me. My go-to, desert-island, must-have portions.
The flavor is earthy. The aroma when a fresh can is cracked is earthy and flowery. I love the hint of tea flavor the rose oil and bergomot gives, but still a strong tobacco flavor at its base. nicotine blast is strong but never overpowering (i rarely get the nic headache from these.)
Consistent taste, nic hit, and quality. Crisp, clean can. Little drip makes it extra work friendly.
My hands down favorite. 10/10.

This is the Skruf for me. Sterk OP hit a bit too hard, Regular OP was too bland. Sterk WP is the happy medium. Nic-wise it reminds me of how N&J OP was too intense, but N&J WP was just right. Same goes for this, I think the slower release of the WP suits me better.
Flavour is good - there's a stronger tobacco flavour with the sterk than the regular, which balances the bergamot and rose oil nicely. Comfort-wise, it's a winner also. I always found SM whites to be a bit rough on the gum, but no such issues with these.
A total hit, as far as I'm concerned.

Skruf Stark WP was my introduction into the Skruf product line... must say I am quite pleased!
Firstly, as mentioned, the can is very nice. I like the white, and also the stark measure dots are a nice touch.
Second, opening the can produces a very nice and pleasant aroma. You can pick up the notes of tobacco, slight bitterness, some citrus, and the rose oil lingers in the background.
The portion material is (of course) a nice dry white, with just a little moisture coming through. Minimal fluffing required to break it all up. To me the portion is very comfortable in the lip, and tucks nicely into place.
Flavor comes on rather slow, which is typical of a white, but is very controlled/consistant. I must say that I really enjoy the melding of tobacco, slight salt, and citrus. For me, the touch of rose oil really rounds out the experience and adds just that little something extra... special even. The drip is minimal, but just enough to spread the flavor around. I admit, I pre-wet white portions when I pop them in by just throwing it in my mouth and using my tongue to flatten it out and place it. This may help in creating a little more drip than you would experience it you finger place. After an hour or so, I usually re-fluff and get to 1.5 hours. The flavor is still there, but starts to back off a bit.
Vit N... no disappointment here! This has become my morning snus, and although the nic comes on gradually at first, it tends to sit heavy on me. Not in a bad way at all, but definitely noticable. Trying to keep smoke cravings at bay: no need to proceed further. I can take this portion out after 1 to 1.5 hours and be good for sometime without another. Certainly deserving of the Stark designation.
All and all, I can certainly see why Skruf has garnered such a following. Is it gonna be for everyone? No, but what snus is? In my opinion, the material is great, the flavor is great, the nic is even better and the overall experience very enjoyable. This is a snus I can easily recommend for your next cart. If General flavor profiles don't do it for you, or a little "lighter" flavor than Gen ES is preferfed, this is a no-brainer for a go-round with similar satisfaction. I will have at least a few cans in my next order.
Happy snusing!
