I think the clue lies in the type of tobacco (or part of tobacco leave) Skruf AB is using. I just cannot explain otherwise where my dislike of this brand comes from. SM, GN, Taboca, V2, Gotland, they all use different tobaccos and employ different methods of snus production, they are all unique and I like them all (as I said with one exceptions- Offroad. Offroad is decent tobacco but terrible chemical flavor, 100% artificial and overpowering).

For me I know which ones I have in the freezer and have a skruf Extra Stark Los open now that I'm currently using and is awesome and I have 2 Skruf Stark Los and 2 Skruf Extra Stark Los in the freezer left.... I know for a fact these are from last year and are the best and my No.2 Stark Los behind General Extra Sterk and when I need to re-order Skruf Los if it has changed will be pissed... It better not have changed.... Skruf ( Imperial tobacco ) Better get their S**t together.... Or they will LOOSE....

Really, really enjoying Skruf stark Los
I don't know about earlier versions of Skruf Stark, or Xtra Stark Los but, I just love both of these Snus'. I would'nt consider myself a flavour junkie by any means, as an ex thirty plus year smoker, for me it's all about the nicotine but I love the character of these Snus. I could use it all day and never tire of it. I just went through a roll of Ettan white portion and feel like I would most likely enjoy the Los version better. I do find the xtra stark a bit too much of a buzz in the AM but perfect for evening with a nice single malt. Worth every penny IMHO.

I think it has changed a bit, I just received a roll last week and i've opened a can tonight, it's the first can i've had in a long while. The taste doesn't live up to the smell. Maybe i'm having an off day, not sure. I still like it but i think it has changed a bit, i could be wrong, not sure ???

Flavorless...... seriously.
I wanted to like this so much because of the can design, the way it baked, and how well it held together, but all of that aside, other than nicotine, it doesnt deliver anything in the flavor department.
Others may say you have to train your pallet to it, well I did that with Gotlands Gul, and man what a great art that snus was, but after a week of Skruf, I have determined it has absolutely no flavor.
The portions are great, but the los isnt up to skruf ( i made a pun, lol ).

Skruf stark los
My first impressions of this snus:
On first opening the can the smell reminds of granit los. The usual smell of tea or tannin and tobacco but also this faint sort of fermented piquant something i can't fully identify. It's quite pleasant really. The grain to me seems medium. I am not an expert. It seems a lot coarser than roda lacket or prima fint , but i wouldn't say it is coarse as such , so medium seems about right. It has just freshly defrosted and is nice and fresh and moist and bakes very easily .
The taste. Well, after a few minutes i am getting a very nice tobacco presence. Astringent and also very deep and bold, bitter , it seems to tickle the back of my throat . The back of the can says bladtoback , which i presume means black or dark tobacco. It certainly is very dark in colour and has that bitter astringency , but it is also very earthy. Now there is something else as well , a sweetness. It's not in anyway imposing but definitley noticeable . I presume this must be the rose oil? i have no idea what rose oil tastes like - presumably roses?- but i can't think what else the sweetness could be. It's a lovely snus , the sweetness adds a nice extra dimension to the dark rich and somewhat astringent tobacco. I have hardly noticed the salt , which is good for me. The nicotine hits hard , but it is not overwhelming . There is a wonderflow burn and glow which seems to tickle the back of your throat. Overall , this is a very good snus , I prefer it to the General ES los i have been using

Learned something valuable halfway through my can. I was initially underwhelmed, nice nicotine but VERY weak flavor. Then I started hand baking it rather than using an icetool and the difference was night and day. For some reason working the tobacco in the hand brings out all the flavor. Earthy tobacco, rose-oil, bergamot, and some pepper. I still think I prefer the Skruf Original Lös instead of the Stark maybe just because I can use it all day easier.
