    Oden's Cold White Dry Portion

Let's jump right in. This review will be about Oden's Cold White Dry Portion.

    Pouches:
These pouches are, as the name would suggest, white dry portions. What this means is the moisture content is considerably lower than that of a standard portion. I was unable to find the exact information, but I believe there is a moisture content of about 25% in these pouches. This is about 1/2 the moisture content of an original portion which usually has a moisture level around 50%.

The lower moisture content means that the flavour will come on a bit slower than an original portion. It also means that the "drip" from these pouches will be considerably less than that of an original portion. I've been using the pouches for upwards of 2 hours with little to no drip. These are excellent pouches for business meetings or places where you might not be able to remove a portion discreetly.

Moisture aside, these pouches are very very comfortable, and do not irritate the gums even with considerable use. I occasionally shift a portion around from one side to the other, and even after hours of use they have not caused any irritation to my gums.

Cold white dry portion compared with a Cold original portion.

    Aroma:
To put it simply, spearmint. As soon as you open the can, you are hit in the face with a blast of spearmint aroma. The power of the spearmint overpowers any other aromas that may have been present. For me, this is great! I love spearmint, and everything about it. Despite the power of the spearmint aroma, it smells very fresh and "clean".

    Taste:
Spearmint. A very clean, long lasting spearmint flavour. The flavour still shines through after 2+ hours. The spearmint is not sweet, but rather wonderfully refreshing, and extremely clean. It doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste, and is wonderful all around. Due to these portions being "white dry" portions, the flavour takes a little bit longer to appear but when it does, it lasts darn near forever. There is virtually no other flavour present other than spearmint, so if you don't like spearmint, this isn't the snus for you. I however LOVE it, and could use spearmint flavoured snus every single day.

    Mouth Feel:
As mentioned before, the portions are extremely comfortable and don't irritate the gums. There is a slight burning sensation when placing the portion under the lip, which is to be expected from any mint/spearmint flavoured snus. I don't find the burning sensation to be extreme, but I've use spearmint flavoured snus almost daily for 4 years.

As I've also mentioned before, being that these are white dry portions, there is little to no drip. So this is a snus that can be used for hours without irritating the throat (good for those who are new to snus or those who dislike the drip from snus).

    Nicotine:
9mg/g. This is not the "extreme cold", this is an regular strength portion. This is good for new snussers, as well as those who prefer to use regular strength portions. It won't blow your head off, it won't buckle the knees. It delivers a steady flow of vitamin N into the blood, and does a fine job doing so.

    Can Design:
This part really isn't important, but I felt like mentioning it anyway. The can for the Cold white dry portion (not extreme) is plain in a good way. A simple white can with some grey designs added onto it along with a couple of GN tobacco logos. It's a standard plastic portion can, with a lid for used portions. It's simple, and I like it.

    Overall:
I REALLY like this snus. I'm a spearmint fiend and this snus is a damn near perfect spearmint snus. GN really hit the nail on the head with this one. It's overall a great snus, and I'm considering adding this into my regular rotation. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for another portion.

I haven't tried the White Dry portions yet...but am working through the regular Cold portions. What struck me, was upon opening the can, the spearmint scent was very strong...but once in my mouth, the spearmint is not overpowering. It's definitely there, but it blends nicely with the tobacco flavor. Skoal spearmint was always a favorite dip of mine, and this reminds me of that, but better, as it's not overpoweringly sweet.

Brings back a lot of memories for me. When I was a kid my grandparents always gave me Wrigley's spearmint chewing gum when I came over and this smells just like it.

Nice review, just one question where the heck have you found this especially if you are from Oregon? I am also in the states and haven't noticed any of the 3 major (northerner, buysnus, and snuscentral) sites that we can order from carrying it. I'd really love to try this but all I have seen is the extreme...Any thoughts?

Just thought I'd add my two cents here. I just got a package in from BigBlue that contained this an Oden's Cold original portion an Oden's Cold extreme portion. I opened this can first and popped in a portion. After a few minutes I felt the lip burn associated with mint snus but it was very pleasant. Once the flavor set it I was very impressed. The best way I can describe this flavor is a spicy spearmint. It is not as sweet as General Mint. General Mint even though it is 1000x times better then Camel Frost sometimes leaves a weird after taste or almost makes me feel sick of the flavor after continued use throughout the day. I cannot imagine this happening here with Oden's Cold. I am basically in love and can see this being my go to snus throughout the day in the future. Hopefully I can eventually find it on Snus Central or Buy Snus as right now they only offer it in the original portion or the white in extreme portion. Or hopefully I enjoy the original portion of this just as much and I will order that. I'm kind of nervous about trying the Extreme portion but if that goes well at least I could order the white portion in that on BS or SC. I know most of you guys have tried this snus and know what it's all about but I hope there's a few out there that swear by General Mint that will see this and buy a roll because it is definitely worth it. My confidence in Oden (as well as GN snus) is now completely renewed as it was somewhat shaken by my bad experience with Oden's Kannel but I now realize that it was just my personal preference on that flavor not the quality of the snus.

              ~~
I ordered some of this about a month ago and have now gone through about 6 cans of it.

I can sum them up with a simple sentence: It's Oden's Cold, but less.

That's it. Less drip, a little less flavor since it's a white. Other than that, the taste of original Cold comes through quite well, just at a lower level. I love Oden's cold, so this is not a bad thing!

I also love the can. Simple, but slick. The fact it's white is a bit of an issue 'cause I get dirty at work, but oh well. I liked the original's cans too except they can't seem to get the stickers straight. :P
