    Islay Whisky Portion

The tin's great. As others have said, the used portion holder is kind of useless, and frankly, kind of gross(it's inside the tin). There's a certain 'neato' factor with the inside portion holder, but I'd omit from future runs to save a bit of money. The tin has a very classy presentation, and I'll be using the empties for other snus. It has a painted label, with a rubbery feel, and it's sealed with a sticker that gives the impression of a hand lettered batch seal, with a facsimile of Conny Andersson's signature. Very small on the bottom, it has Paizano was here on the bottom rim. Presumably, that's from Paizano Design Studio. If so, that's great that the designer signed his work. The tin truly is a work of of art.

I've written so much about the tin, cause great tins have been scarce in recent years. Everyone has been going cheap, and while it isn't a bad approach per se, it's nice having such attention to detail in a tin that's very affordable for everyone. This isn't a high dollar product most people won't buy.

As far as the snus goes... It's got a great flavor, but is perhaps a bit too dry. Medium salt, and no sweetness. It's amazing the breadth of makers that can do whisky snus right, but it somehow evaded Swedish Match(Probe). I'd like to see more moisture. What I haven't tried is adding a bit of my own whisky. That should moisten it up nicely, and give it a mild flavor boost. The flavor is very natural, and tastes like a good scotch. It doesn't last especially long; maybe 30 minutes, but that's ok. I'd rather have a short period of great flavor, than long period of synthetically boosted mediocre flavor.

Final word... It's worth a roll buy for the tins alone, but for me, I think a roll's enough. I don't use many portions, but if the lössnus gets released, I'll try to get a roll of that. I think that would be more to my liking, and would be an ongoing purchase. This should be filtered knowing I strongly prefer lössnus, and even the best portions will get a muted response from me.

    tl;dr
This snus is a must buy. The presentation is excellent throughout.

I've been through a couple of cans now, and it's really grown on me. I only use portion snus, and I like that Islay portions seem a little plumper. They could be a bit more moist. I like Lxskllr's idea of adding a touch of Whisky, maybe just a drop.
The flavor has a clean smokiness to me, that comes on strong at first and then levels off. I left a portion in for almost two hours when I was busy with something else. Although the flavor was almost gone, it still tasted good and felt good in my lip. I'll probably use Islay several times a day. I tend to use more than one brand throughout the day, and this has edged into that rotation.

And yeah, that can is nice, and makes me look for new uses for my empties.

I tried my first one today, I must agree that the tin in very nice. At first I thought that it had something sticky on it but I then realized that it was the rubberized coating I was feeling.

The snus in my opinion just isn't that good, it's ok but I was really hoping for more. At first it's very strong it kinda made me do a pucker face thing but as it sat in there it mellowed a bit, I got rid of it in about 20-30 minutes, I will finish this tin but I don't think I'll reorder.

On the plus side I did include a general water proof can on my last order so I don't have to keep and use this empty tin!

I never associated the taste of copenhagen with whiskey but thats exactly what this stuff tastes like. Smell like cope, tastes like cope, just less runny but overall i'd say an identical flavor.

My thoughts exactly. I have only had a couple of portions so far, but the scent and flavor are dead ringers for 'Murican dip, and Cope, in particular. I will try the next portion with a side of Ardbeg to see if that makes some of the Islay components in the snus more apparent. Worst case, I'll have some tasty dip-like snus and some tasty whisky to go with it.

I bought 2 tins to try it out. As said, the portions are a bit dry but after 15 minutes the flavor really kicks in. I have been leaving mine in for an hour or more and really enjoying it.
It's nice that someone is prepared to take a risk and not go down the path of producing another minty, fruity or funky flavored Snus. I'll certainly order some more.

A new batch of Islay Whisky Snus is coming soon in which the moisture content has been tweaked to make the portions more moist.
