GN Tobacco has really made a name for themselves lately. As the EU snus ban became more and more of an issue, GN Tobacco Sweden AB registered at SnusOn, a snus discussion forum I call home, and began talking with various members. Not only offering words of encouragement, but vowing to help those in the EU and offering daily humor with their Swenglish (the blurring of Swedish and English which yields often comical results), and their attention to customers. I haven't seen this kind of customer attention in a long time outside of V2 Tobacco, which I've wrote about in the past in regards to their excellent customer service. So, moving along. GN Tobacco has a new product, Oden's Extreme. Several months ago I helped test it when it was in the pre-production stage. I wrote a little bit about it and shared my feedback that I sent to GNT after testing it.


So, Oden's Extreme Snus. It is currently the strongest snus available outside of Makla, weighing in at a whopping 22mg of nicotine. Until they release their 30mg (white portion, I believe) snus, this is about as heavy as it gets. But it's not just the nicotine that makes this snus so unique. When you look at a can of GNT snus, you notice the hockey puck can, much like the old Tourney cans. The cans really aren't much to look at, and given how cool the Oden's cans have been I think it could look better. But, never judge a book by it's cover, because what's in the can will blow you away. When I open a can of Oden's Extreme I'm simply blown away by the aroma. A deep, spicy, pure tobacco aroma much like good pipe tobacco. The portions are dark original portions, slightly moist but not oozing or anything.


The portions are packed full, but I still fluff them a little bit before putting it in my lip. The mouthfeel is great, these portions are very comfortable and the nicotine hit is almost immediate. This snus isn't for the weak - it hits like a freight train. As I mentioned last time I wrote about it, it reminds me of Skruf XTra Stark, in that it's a real heavy hitter. The taste is a slightly salty taste with a pure tobacco flavor. Much like the taste of good pipe tobacco - this snus is a straight up tobacco flavored snus. No fancy hints or notes of anything other than a zesty, spicy, bold tobacco taste. I really like the fact that GN did this because a lot of snusers have been asking for a snus like this with a tobacco flavor without the presence of citrus. And boy, did GN deliver. This snus is all around great.

Oden's Extreme Portion

A dark tobacco aroma and flavour. Portions mid-moist. Kicks your ass in the nic department

It's a new favorite. Just what I was looking for in a snus. First time in forever I've felt the nic. The taste is great pure tobacco with a slight salt and pepper taste. Will be ordering a roll or 2 soon as northerner get it back in stock.

Oden's EXTREME Portion

OK, I recently aquired some of the new Oden's, the Extreme Portion. Never had this before.
This is made by GN Tobacco, in Sweden. Has a very long Bast Fore date, 2012, 03, 15. I guess a year.
Personally, I like the cans. I know most seem to not, especially when they were the old Grand Prix, and Tourney cans. But to me, the new colors of them, especially the black, just looks good to me, and they are sturdy, but it has been announced new a new can design is coming, so, it don't matter. The label design is nice too.

OK, let's open this up. First thing I like, is the smell. To me, these smell great. Really, I could just sit here and huff the can. Let's put one in. The portions themselves look very good. Moist, seems about the right amount of moisture. Hmmm.... I'm getting a deep bold toaste... peppery, spicey.. I'm drinking some black coffee with this. Being the EXTREME, I was't sure if I was going to get kicked in the face and have to run to the toilet or lay down in a sweat, after putting one of these in, and was hoping it would not affect me like that, as some dips have, in my early days of oral tobacco. But no.... this is not, but... I am feeling it, and as we all know, I think, that have been tobacco users for a while, we usually get to a place where we usually don't "feel it" as much, and I know it's kinda exciting to try the new starks and such, but I don't want it to sound like chasing the dragon. I don't know if that made sense.

So far...and I am writing this is real time, as I usually do. I like this. It reminds me of an ekstra sterk Olde Viking Original. And I liked Olde Viking Original. Portions are well made and comfortable, I think. It's going well with morning coffee. As I said before, I am glad it doesn't punch me in the face like Makla. I do feel it, and as I read somewhere else, nic in small amounts can be energizing, and in larger amounts can be sedating. I think I'm feeling sedated. But not to where I can't or don't want to function, like a calming. I don't know if that's just me, I don't think I slept enough with the storms we had last night.

Overall, I think this is very good. I like the bold peppery spicey taste. I'm just not into "flavored" snus, and everythime I try one, I just confirm that. I know Oden's EXTREME is making a variety of flavors, and that's great for those that like that. I'm also not into loose snus, which I have been reading very positive reviews of Oden's EXTREME Loose, and I am sure it is very good, but while I wish I loved Loose snus, my uneven upper teeth just make it not a great experience, regardless of how good the product is, like Pioneer, which I thought was great in taste.

I guess that's all I can say. Bold good taste. Well made and comfortable portion. Strong nic that comes on smooth. Goes good with coffee, and I am sure anything else. I like this.

Since it was moved to the Gajane section, which I still don't understand the current Gajane/GN connection, could we just delete the review section for GN?

Delete the GN section, and make the Gajane section say Gajane/GN Tobacco. Since they're so closely related.

One thing I feel to add about this Extreme Portion, even though the nic does not hit you(me) like Makla(and I am glad), it has a strong lingering effect, and it's been way over an hour since I had it, and I have no desire for anything else(more), I'm still feeling it.

Hey Senor P I thought Galoise smokes were made with French bridge sweepings. Maybe just for the export market.

Finally took a chance to see what the chatter was about .. This is a Fabulous Snus ! Opening the can it had that faint GN floral smell and an earthy coffee ground smell .. taste is spot on .. comfortable portions and a good smooth and steady nic hit
